New bike, new questions to go with it
So, I bought a new bike today and it very seriously needs to be polished.
I`m not looking for perfection right now since I`ll have to pull parts off soon (though I may just wait until winter for most of what I want to do).
All I have is a GG6 for a machine polisher. I do have 3" pads and BP and somewhere (the wife claims she didn`t move it but I know where I left it and it`s not there anymore) I have a 2" pneumatic DA. Now, the pneumatic is a cheapo I bought to play with (Harbor Freight) but I don`t have a compressor at home that will power it.
I need something I can use by hand to help me out. Either that or any ideas for a cheap, but usable smaller polisher.
I tried Black Hole, Meg`s UC, Meg`s UP, and may try to the Sonax Easy Shine I received as a free gift with an order just because it specifically says to use by hand.
Also, is it safe to polish "tinted" windscreens? You`ll see when I attach the pictures of how bad this thing is.
This is pretty much how the whole thing looked. I know when I sell something it gets cleaned first.
What was really scary was when he pulled a super cheapo MF out of the storage compartment... at least I know how it got so bad.

Anyway, any tips would be appreciated. Otherwise, I`ll just keep playing with what I have until I find something that is acceptable for now.
EDIT: Ignore the watermark. I`ve been playing around with a gallery on my site and I have it set to automatically watermark images. I would use Photobucket but this is so much faster and easier.

I haven`t seen too much that megs uc /up can`t clean up. did you say that you already used it on the bike? if you have to apply by hand these are handy- EZ Grip Hydro-Tech Hand Applicators , Griot`s Garage Mini 3 Inch Pad Holder , or Pinnacle Polishin if you already have 3" pads. An innovative approach to correcting and waxing by hand! will work too.
P.S. please disregard, I just saw your post on "what did you do detailing wise today" . seems you already took care of the problem.

I`ll attack the side fairings some other time tonight probably but there is a major difference now. A lot of work but it looks way better.

As a note, those white lines in the last picture are a weird reflection, not polish.

I actually have the EZ Grip applicators and started with those.

Nice job on the windscreen. The choice of low dusting, oily polish is a good one for bikes, because dusting is royal pita to clean up on a bike.
I do most of my motorcycle by hand because the machine just can`t get to all the nooks and obstacles. I`ve found UP to be a good choice, and Menzerna 2500. I simply use my 4" pads by hand. I have cut some in half for the bike for easier access.

There was only one spot on the screen that may still bug me... and it`s dead center at the top. He said they were new plastics and you can tell he wasn`t careful putting them on.
I already learned that dusting, etc. can be a PITA. I may have not checked to make sure the pad was 100% dry and hit an edge. That was not fun.
I had to do a lot by hand and, if I do it again I most likely will. The front was pretty well trashed and I managed most with the 3" on the GG6. The sides weren`t nearly as bad thank goodness.
Now to decide if I want to keep the mirrors where they are or go with bar end mirrors... hm.

Awesome! Congrats on the new bike! YZF600R? I used to have one of those. It was a 97 and it was one of my favorites. Can`t wait to see more pics of it :)

Yep, 2004. I wanted to stick with a 600CC since insurance is way cheaper. Plus, I`m pretty short and the smaller bikes tend to fit me a bit better.
I`ll get some more pictures sometime.
