Setting up a membership club?
I`m about to launch my website and I`m trying to decide if I should offer a Discount membership club on it. Maybe for the price of $79 customers get a lifetime membership of perks. I was thinking 10% off any services, and free upgrades like sealant, extra coat of wax, window sealant, fabric protection etc,. Something that just costs pennies to do. Possibly a free 16oz bottle of quick detailer spray with my own label on it with every detail. You can get 5 gallons of generic QD for about $50 bucks. I can mail out a cheap laminated club card, welcome letter and a sticker when someone joins. It`s all about perceived value.
The way I figure this is incentive for customers to feel the need to get their monies worth and want more details done. I`d rather have 90% of the revenue than nothing at all. There`s also those guys who will just use the membership once and the club fee is extra revenue in my pocket.
Do you guys think this is worth implementing or am I overthinking again? If so, what do you think the membership benefits should be?
Re: Setting up a membership club?
I like the thought process behind the membership but I feel like customers will want something more than just 10% off future details or a QD to pony up $79. How about something like a 9 car washes get the 10th free? With something on their account on your website to keep track of how many washes they`ve had.

That`s a great idea too, but in my demographic you could wind up sitting in traffic for 3-4 hours depending on the time of day, so I don`t offer any wash only services. It`s just not economically viable for me. At least I haven`t figured it out how yet.
Maybe I can lower the price of the membership some, $39.95 seems to be the magic number for everything on TV.

Only if it`s followed by "But wait - There`s more!! " and you get a second free. :P

:lmfaoHAHA yeah actually I kind of like it at that price, at that value it might give me a edge over the competition. My salesman friend once told me, "people will pay a lot of money to get something for free". It`s so true, I saw him sell a $4000 generator to a farmer that didn`t even need one because he was getting a bunch of other cheap equipment free. It was amazing.
