I had my rear bumper painted only couple months ago for a lot of money. And of course, someone `bumps` into my bumper again. There is no chip or scratches, but there is fin spiderweb stress crack from the bumper. My understanding is that this can`t be fixed by sanding/polishing.
Anybody knows a reputable shop/mobile painter that can spot spray and blend?
Spot jobs are great if you are selling the car but aren`t really durable repairs. And if it isn`t bad, it will likely look worse with a spot repair as they are never perfect anyway.
I agree with Dan. IMO when the paint has cracked (and I have this on the white Crown Vic) it really calls for a remove/repaint/reinstall repair, with flex-agent added to the paint.
For a maybe-OK but kinda half-@$$ed fix you might try Dr ColorChips but if the damage is as severe as I suspect then that`s probably not gonna cut it (mine`s too bad to bother trying it).
a spot repair isn`t going to last. But, if you want to go the cheap way, contact a local used car dealership and ask them who they use. Probably less than $200 compared to $400-$500 to do this right.
