"91" Red Trooper
This is the latest of cars that I detailed, its got 149K on it and is an outside car. After washing it I used clay, light cut rubbing compound, polish, swirl remover, glaze and then wax. The oxidation it was unbelievable every towel including myself was red. The grill was really pitted out so I removed it sanded, primed and painted it black I have to admit it was fun working on it, as its been a long time since I have worked on single stage paint

NICE
Thats a single-stage paintjob? Can you give a more indepth list of what process/materials you used?

Great work.
How much time did you invest?
Did you use a PC or Rotary?

Thanks here is what I did. After the washed I used a clay bar with QD spray, the hood was a mess the bar would barely move at first. The second step was a hand job with light cut compound, then using the orbital with a cutting pad I polished it. Next was swirl remover with a polish pad, then hand glaze with 3M glaze, final was wax using a finishing pad. I was thinking about using the rotary but the orbital seemed to be doing the job quite well. The clay bar was the trick I think.
To answer your question yes this is single stage paint every bit of me and the towels that I used were red. Allot of the products that I use are from P&S there is a local guy here that takes good care of me. I have to admit that I amazed myself as well and my next door neighbor came over said he could not believe what I did.

I like doing those jobs ALMOST as much as my high end guys. It`s just soooo much fun to get junk to look like new. I took an 89 Ford Probe with almost 200k on it that looked like that and got it looking half ways decent after about an hours of worth of wet sanding and buffing. The car actualy shines now where the paint Wasn`t beond repair. You just get so much satisfaction after truly getting a restoration. Not just a cleaning.

What grit is good for shinning up the paint on a car? 3500 or 4000?

Nice work on both of them:bigups
Restoring oxidized paint is so rewarding.
If you have some PB PP, you should try it, it really cuts through oxidized paint.
Here is a test area I did by hand with PP on the hood of a 90 Miata
