Review - Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash
Greetings everyone. I wanted to provide my thoughts on a new product from Meguiar`s, D114 Rinse Free Express Wash. This is just a basic review based on my opinion after one use. I usually don`t form an opinion after one use of a product but this one was a little different. Thoughts shared at the end. On to the review...
Product Name/Manufacturer: D114 Rinse Free Express Wash - Meguiar`s
Product Size: 1 US Gallon
Product Price: $39.99 Retail
Directions: Shake well, dilute 1oz. per gallon of water, no directions to make clay bar lubricant or quick detailer
*All pictures taken with iPhone and resized with Kodak EasyShare software, no enhancements made.

Here are a few pictures showing the condition of my HHR SS before a quick rinse with my pressure washer:

As you can see I had some grime (very gritty) hanging out in a few crevices that were not washed away after a trip through the touchless.
The tools for the job: 2 cheap waffle weave towels, 1 micro fiber drying towel, 1 PakShak Ultra Smooth, 1 micro fiber towel I`m testing, 1 micro fiber bone wash pad

3 ounces of product measured out

The viscosity is very thin as you can tell in this picture

Something to note and new to me, some slight suds formed after mixing product

Suds runoff

Wiped dry with ease, no streaks

Take note of my rinse bucket (yellow) after just making one pass on the roof of my car

After working my way around the car the thought hit me to show how well this product releases dirt from the wash pad.

After

This is my rinse water after finishing just the paint, I didn`t clean the wheels because we are expecting rain

Final Thoughts: If you`re looking for a rinseless wash that leaves the paint feeling clean but not loaded down with polymers that may or may not interfere with an LSP, this is the one. To me it`s like the Shampoo+ of the rinseless world. I did not notice any additional gloss after using this. The downside to this product is the dilution ratio at nearly the same price as other rinseless washes. Overall I`m pleased with this product and do not regret buying a gallon of it. It definitely has a place in my arsenal but is not the end all to rinseless washes either.

I do like the way it releases the dirt off of the MF Bone. ONR sure doesn`t. Nice review.

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Looks like this is a much better product than the consumer line waterless wash... I bought a bottle of that to try and ended up not too impressed.

Great review Richard !!!!
Re: Review - Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash
Nice review Richard. This is one Rinseless (along with Duragloss) that I am looking forward to testing.
Re: Review - Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash
Very cool Richard. I really like that fact that it doesn`t have any gloss enhancers. This could possibly make it great for things like Permanon or LSP you don`t want to modify.
Re: Review - Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash
Great review! The releasing from the wash media is now probably one of the more important properties in a rinseless for me these days. I may try at some point but have gallons of rinseless to get through first.
Re: Review - Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash
thanks richard, good review. if i ever have any real doubts about a product, meguiars always seems to be a safe bet to use with confidence.
Re: Review - Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash
Nice review. I did not know Meguiar`s had a rinseless product.
This reminds of EcoWash based upon the product description. The lack of gloss enhancers is also a plus for me.
Re: Review - Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash
thanks for the review richard!, im amazed at how theres suds, so wondering what makes it suds up like it does, even if i add onr or DPRWG to a normal wash(to soften my water) it makes the suds die down somewhat. hopefully you or someone else will do a review on the trim gel. thats one i want to see how it works. still a good product, price is not bad but i dont think i will be buying it judged on your review. i dont have a need for a rinseless that leaves a finish without any protection. as when i apply a lsp i strip or polish the finish anyways. im stuck on the duragloss rinseless ever since they sent me a bottle to test out, and i love it so i think thats one im sticking to! again thanks for the informative review!
Re: Review - Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash
I`m in the middle of testing light duty LSP`s and usually by the time I hit the touchless a couple times they are gone. So with the ability to clean the surface without leaving protection behind is great because when I test a new product I`m not guessing what is really beading or providing the gloss or slickness. An example would be if I have a Dodo Juice wax on the paint and I use Blackfire waterless wash, now the existing wax is topped with a different polymer and could alter the appearance or feel of the existing wax.
I will use Blackfire waterless/rinseless wash with Blackfire as my LSP, the same with Duragloss Rinseless with Duragloss as the LSP and so on.

These are my thought exactly Richard. I am currently doing my BF vs. Wolfgang shootout and don`t want to alter the result in any way but since I haven`t been driving the vehicle I don`t need a full 2BM wash on it. a raise-less would be perfect but all I am using currently is ONR.
The other thing is for product like Permanon that I mention in an earlier post. I has some of the great Hydrophobic properties of the newer coatings but it doesn`t play well with gloss enhancers and such. So a true wash only with no additives would be perfect.
I`m also wondering how it would work as a traditional wash? Hmmm...
Re: Review - Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash
Nice review, Richard. Meg`s rinseless wash looks to be a lot more sudsy than the other rinseless washes. Not a bad thing, just an observation.
Re: Review - Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash
I did reach out to Michael Stoops for some clarification on this product. When he responds I will update accordingly. Just a basic idea of questions -
- Should we feel a polymer coating on the surface like other rinseless washes or should we experience what I did, just clean paint?
- Is this a product that can be mixed at QD or clay lubricant ratios? If so what are the recommendations?

Please post your thoughts when you finish your shootout. Love the Wolfgang line, and wanting to try out the BF line:bigups
