Cleaning Pad after SSR1??

I used the White Lake Country pad to apply SSR1 on saturday.

Sunday I soaked the pad in hot water with Dawn for an hour to hour half then put on more dawn directly to the pad cleaned it well with my fingers and then rinsed and then soaked for another hour to ensure completly rinsed. The problem is the Pad is still pink.

Is it just dyed pink from the SSR1 or is it still dirty?
Is there a better way to clean pads?

Mine is dyed pink too. I don`t think there is a way around it.

I use an orange pad that other day with SSR2. I did just what you said, then layed the pad flat in the sink with a bit more Dawn. I kneed the pad with warm water and mine came out perfect. Mine are Megs apds and that migth be the difference. I`d have to guess that the pad is stained only

I`d also say that it is clean and stained...after a conversation last week with a customer, he told me he soak his pads in Isoprol Alchohol after using and his don`t stain:dunno Haven`t had the chance to try it but It sounded ok to me.

I also think there`s a slight advantage to staining...now you know what product has been used and can assign it for a certain task.

That staining Idea is a good one. I always mark them what was used on them and then only use that product with that pad.

Dont know if its ok to use other same type products with the same pad or not so I just use one pad for a specific product.

I`d ratter if that colorant wasn`t there, I use my pads with the products I need at the occasion, and I like to clean them right in the end. :nono

SSR 2 is blue and the pad I used it with is now blue and the one I used with SSR1 is pink.
I like it too cause now I know exactly which pad to reach for when using each product.
As long as it doesn`t turn my white paint pink, I will be happy!!

on a side note - I just mark my pads with a sharpie so I know what is used on what (on the back of course)

I use any pad with any product, otherwise I`d need dozens of pads :wait

I do to, never had a problem. I would have too many pads if I had one for every polish. I just make sure to clean them out really well. Never had a problem.

I don`t necessarily use one for each product but more like one for each type of product:
NXT, UPP, = one pad
#82 SFP, SSR1, +one pad
DACP, SSR2, Fine Cut Cleaner = one pad
It scares me to think of using a pad that I just used SSR 3 on to remove some scratches and after washing it, use SSR1 as the final polishing step.
I keep imagining these abrasive particles being left in the pad even after careful washing.

Well in that case, yes I do the same thing. However I dont need to label them because if I am using a cut pad it would almost always be with a DACP like product, and if using a finer polish it would be a white pad. I did blur the line once and used DACP on a white pad. However since it has diminishing abrasives I would think that they are either really, really, fine at this point, or gone all together.

I used to clean the pad after each use but it takes too much time and since I`m using only Poorboys stuff I`ve decided to just label the pads and dedicate them to a product. I don`t think I`ll have to be too particular about maybe using a SSR2 pad to work SSR1 even. It doesn`t seem like it would hurt anything to use a pad for all SSR`s.....or does it? Whaddyathink? One pad for SSR`s and then another for PP/PwC and another for EX`s??

How do you guys wash yours?

I just wash mine under warm water in the sink with dawn...squeezing the soap in and out of them, them i put the pad in between my hands (like a clapping or praying position) and squeeze the water out of them
