Is it normal for black to show dust like crazy????

After I wash the car. If I drive the car 20 feet it starts to show dust!!! ... Is there a certain wax or past wax that can help eliminate dusting? I started by drying my microfiber towels for only 10 minutes to reduce static.

I think it just shows more because it`s black. The worst wax that I have used on my black truck as far as dust attraction was Collinite. Just keep your prefered QD on hand. I don`t think there is any miracle anti-dust wax/Sealant/QD out there but IMO some are better than others.

as I said its a job to keep clean

A "CA DUSTER" can in some cases Mar up the finish especially black! This was evident on a car Dave looked at while here in Maine. The owner had a CA duster and used it often. That seemed to be some of his trouble on his prize "BLACK" 70 SS 454 chevelle. Love THE COLOR HATE THE UPKEEP.

Re: Is it normal for black to show dust like crazy????

I have owned several Black vehicles, I currently own 3 of them.
I spend just as much time keeping my wine color Explorer clean as I do my Black vehicles.

A vehicles does not collect dust because of color it just shows on black more than some colors.

I bought a new car last fall and I traded in a Black for a Black one.
I love Black nothing looks better than a properly detailed Black vehicle.

Agreed, black attracts dust just like any color, but what black really attracts is ATTENTION when it is clean!!! My 2 daily drivers are black. Wife drives a 99 GMC black Suburban and I drive a black 06 Buick Lucerne CXS and they both look better than the day they were bought.
    Thanks

OK so whats the point?? Yes you are right, they do look good, but they are never clean after ya drop the towel. The color is not what most are up for as far as keeping the thing perfect. Most buy black, and think it will stay perfect forever, this is the worst misconceptions when wanting a black vehicle. That`s why when ya see a glassy shiny corrected black car most say WOW. If most only knew how hard it was to keep the thing that way.

Your a good man Black Bart, Ya choose the hardest color to keep shiny, and keep um that way...

I really don`t see the difference in colors.
when I drive my Black car somewhere when I get home I clean it.
When I drive my Red one when I get home I clean it.
When I drive the Gray and white when I get home I clean it.

I never drive a vehicles that is not spotless so what color it is really don`t matter it must be clean before I drive it so to me the only difference is how they look when freshly detailed.

Re: Is it normal for black to show dust like crazy????

I decided that I did not deserve a black vehicle since I do not feel up to the task of keeping it clean. My recent purchase of a metalic blue truck was in part chosen because I would not have to work as hard to satisfy my shine urge because it shows less than black.

With all that said I will not use a car duster again. I used it in appropriate times and inappropriate times and I induced marring. I noticed it on black. Some were worse than others. But marring was instilled each time. It may be because of bad technique but I do not mar my paint when I use a good MF towel and S&W. It takes a few minutes longer but the results are always good.
