Interesting, I even continued the cane use for a period after the boot came off. It (the cane, a really nice piece of hickory) was great (with or w/o the boot) for clearing aisles of dawdlers while shopping. Places light Sam`s Club, Home Depot, Lowes are great places to get walking in while in the boot. Wide aisles which allow you to maintain a steady walking pace, and importantly a solid even surface.

I got one thing to say about the cane, it beats a walker all to pieces.

Though I would prefer not to have to rely on the cane, I have found it to be quite handy for reasons both obvious and not so obvious (as Clint said in the movie Pale Rider
nothing like a nice piece of hickory
    ).

I understand that .. and I`ll probably have my crutches for the trip to DF as there is no way I`ll be able to walk through airports in a few weeks

That`s why they have those golf carts all over the place. Knock off that older couple and take up an entire bench to yourself.

Mine has metal in it. Up the sides for stability.

But if your`s has a laminated rubber/plastic bottom they`re gonna want to examine it.
