Review - Poorboys World Wheel Sealant

Recently won this from Autopia as a part of http://www.autopia.org/forums/autopi...9+weeks+to+win

    Poorboy

    Description
Super slick protection for today’s wheels. For use on aluminum, coated, chrome & painted wheels. Protection from brake dust and weather.

    Directions
For Best Results, wash, dry and polish wheels first. Apply wheel Sealant to cool, clean wheels with a soft cloth or foam applicator. Let it dry to a haze and buff off. Two or three coats will make it repel brake dust even better!

First time using Poorboy’s World Wheel Sealant yesterday. The price on Autopia Car Care Products - Car Detailing Supplies, Car Wax, Car Polishers, Auto Detailing is $19.99 for the 8oz jar. The consistency is about the same as lithium grease and smells like a cross between fruity and chemically, kind of makes me think of the smell of car wash soap in the drive thru washes. I used a TUF SHINE Pro Series Applicator Sponge for applying the sealant. This was the perfect combo. The Tuf Shine applicator picked up the sealant with ease and spread it nice, thin and even over the entire wheel. With the little bit I used I can see this 8oz lasting me a very long time. I applied it to the wheels on my father-in-law’s truck which I see every week so it will be easy to keep up on the durability and the ease of washing. So far I would recommend this based on what I have seen so far but will follow up when I see how it holds up.

    Thanks for looking.
    Matt

That is good stuff, nice review.

I used that detail weekend and it did a good job. With all the coating that have come out it kind I makes these types of products dinosaurs. I have not compared looks but I either coat my wheels with whatever I coat (many months and APC wont touch them) my paint with or I used the super sport (weeks unless you use APC to remove instantly)

Yeah wheels get coated on my cars too. For customers I usually use Hydro2. I think now for the easy wheels I will use this and wheels with lots of spokes or contours will still get Hydro2.

Had it, used it, killed it......

What I mean by that, was I`d still hit the wheels with spray and rinse.

Spray and rinse is just sooooooooo easy
Formerly the "Best Detailer", now just Super Wax Waster Man. Not necessarily tactful, but normally right. It`s good to be da King !!!

Still on my list of things to try. Glad I am seeing a lot of love for it around here too so I`m sure I will be happy with it.

I still haven`t tried it but bought some at PB detail weekend.
I have the DP wheel sealant that I`m trying to finish.
With you though Ron..I think the Spray and Rinse kills it anyway.

Thanks for the review! I can see PB Wheel Sealant being nice on vehicle with low brake dust build up or those that just don`t get driven much. But I`m with you guys - for DD and cars with heavy brake dust issues (ie BMW`s for one), wheel coating are the only way to go.

if I DID THIS PROFESSIONALLY I WOULD USE PERMANON, NEVER TRIED THE HYDRO2.

I WOULD LIKE TO TRY AQUABEAD. iT IS SUPOSE TO BE SILILAR BUT VERY INEXPENSIVE RTU.

Are you referring to Detail Weekend at Poorboy`s this past June?

I have used Poorboys Wheel Sealant and while it does a great job protecting it was a pain to remove. The directions say to use three coats, but I gave up after one coat. I`ll stick to PBL Wheel Coating.

I agree. I use Permanon all the time on wheels - but it just doesn`t last. I just picked up a bottle of the CarPro HydroFoam (or whatever it`s called). I plan to use it in a squirt bottle to clean and seal my wheels (which never get too dirty) in one step.

Yes, I`ll pay more money for products that let me be more lazy with the same results.

I like a lot of PBs products, but I agree this stuff is a dinosaur. Would like to see PBs come out with some new tech products.
