Okay everyone, here`s the tentative plan for lodging and food (disclaimer: this plan is not yet set in stone) -
The recommended hotel location is The Candlewood Suites, 20 Overlook Boulevard, Nanuet, NY 10954. Phone number is 845.371.4445. This location was chosen due to its reasonable weekend rates ($89.00 per night for a queen bed suite), convenient location with easy off/on from I-287 (New York State Thruway) near the intersections with the Garden State Parkway and the Palisades Parkway, a safe and clean parking lot (very important for Detail City members), and it`s just far enough from a main road to be fairly quiet. Here is the website for internet bookings - Candlewood Suites, Nanuet, NY
The optional dinner event is expected to take place Saturday evening at the New Country Buffet, 175 Route 59, Spring Valley, NY 10977. This restaurant is an international cuisine all-you-can-eat buffet. The location is one mile from the Candlewood Suites.
Poorboy is also planning to book a room at the Candlewood Suites for an after dinner gathering. It will just be a place to unwind and engage in some friendly conversation.
Food during the detailing event itself will be mainly on-your-own; however, Poorboy is planning to provide some type of quick meal on-site (probably something like hotdogs and chips). For those of you who don`t like hotdogs and don`t feel like packing a brown bag lunch, McDonald`s, KFC/Pizza Hut Express, Dunkin Donuts, and Subway are all within walking distance.
If anyone who is thinking of getting a room can pm me, I will go to the hotel and see if I can work out a better group rate.
The long range Accuweather forecast says "Partly sunny. Winds from the W at 3 mph. High 77." Sounds perfect!
Even if the weather isn`t perfect, there will be some pop-up tents available as well as a large indoor area. If you have your own canopy that you`d be willing to bring along, there will be plenty of room for you to set it up. :mohawk

If It`s not to late I would like to be added to the list for the 2day event
Thank You

As we get closer to the actual days of the event, we will be posting specific driving directions and "rules of conduct".
Speaking from experience (last year), I just wanted to note on some things to bring (reccomended):
-Pop up tent (you will drip more sweat than polish on your paint if it is like it was last year)
-Chairs (Liz and I got 2 folding chairs in the little bags...after some time you will want to sit)
-Cooler with drinks/food (McDonalds is the only place in walking distance)
-Extra drinks (can`t stress this enough)
-Camera (we certainly need a lot more pics than last year)
-Comfortable clothes (bring a change of clothes as well as you will probably get sweaty)
-Sunscreen (there is NO shade where we will be working with the exception of maybe 2 spots)
Hope this helps.
Judging by the photos of the GTG last year, that lot seems pot hole prone. Watch out, especially those two great red cars I know that will be there.

Steve & Co,
Any chance Natty Blue will be avalible that day? As you said, it looks good on red.
I would advise all to read GRStilez list on what to bring!! Last year was HOT as HELL! Canopy, chairs, drinks etc all worth bringing if you can. More camaras!!! Need lots and lots of pics!!
Just like the prior detail day, leave ALL other products home. He supplies all products. However, bring your pads, MF towels as those are in short supply and most have their fav pads anyway. For those willing to share pads, please mark them. Some pads went MIA.
Extension cords are always needed as well. That`s unless you want to spin you rotary by hand... A wash bucket for those washing is a must along with your mitts. There will be some avalible, just coordinate with those using them.
And for those who HAVE to bring the ball and chain, there is allways Woodbury Common! A favorite place for robo-shoppers! Top designer outlets sure to please any wife and to make any husband cry like hell when the credit card bill arrives! Oh yea, MAKE SURE you have room for all the bags she brings back. I can bet you`ll be forced to leave your detail supplies to make room for all the bags she brings back! Here`s a tip: FED EX! or UPS Store! Hey, space is limited in an SC!!!
It`s a wonderful time to try new product, put faces to forum names and swap stories!
See you there Sunday!

Deanski

What`s in YOUR garage? 997 Carrera S.
Hope the weather is good to all of you.
It turns out I will be in the NE that weekend but still too short notice and too far geographically: ( South Jersey)
Take care and I`ll anxiously be awaiting the pics.

I went to the Candlewood Suites yesterday to check out their facilities and to confirm pricing. Their Sales Manager, Mike Brands, confirmed that their best price is the "Internet Promo" rate of $89.00 per night for a Studio Suite (queen bed, kitchenette, desk, recliner chair, TV, VCR, high speed internet access, free local phone calls). If you are a member of AARP, there is an additional 10% discount. I asked to see one of these rooms and found it to be exactly as pictured on their website in this link: Studio Suite Guest Room. IMHO, this rate is a bargain considering all that you get. The manager explained that this hotel caters to business travellers and has a very low occupancy rate on Saturday nights. That is why they are able to offer this pricing.
You will probably also be able to request a room which has a view of a specific area of the parking lot (we DC types always like to be able to see our vehicles).
A block of rooms has been set aside at these rates. If you want to book a room with our group, you must phone in your reservation. Call 845.371.4445 and speak to someone at the Front Desk. Tell them that you are with the "Poorboy`s World Car Club" which has a block of rooms reserved in their computer system. Any rooms left unbooked by Friday afternoon (June 24th) will be released back to the general public.
[Note: If you would like to upgrade to a larger one bedroom suite (separate sleeping area, larger desk, and sofa), the cost is $175.99 per night and there were only 3 of these rooms still available as of yesterday.]
