    Bosch Random Orbital Sander/Polisher

    Hi all,

Here in Oz, a popular unit for the beginner is (or was) the Bosch Random Orbital Sander and polisher.

    Tech Data:
    Code:
    Technical data
    Power input 400 W
    Sanding plate diameter 125 mm
    Orbital stroke rate 9.000 ? 26.000 rpm

    Machine weight 1,9 kg
    Functions
    Bosch Micro-Filter System
    Bosch Electronic
    All-round adjustable auxiliary handle
    Sanding disc with Velcro-type fastening
    Dust extraction
    Noise/vibration information
    Hide values
Measured values determined according to EN 60745
Total vibration values (vector sum of three directions)
Vibration emission value ah 6,5 m/s?
    Uncertainty K 1,9 m/s?
The A-rated noise level of the power tool is typically as follows: Sound pressure level 84 dB(A); Sound power level 95 dB(A). Uncertainty K= 3 dB.
However there has been some issues with the backing plate velcro on the more recent models not holding well on some of the newer pads (e.g. Lake Country, Hex Logic, Edge). I myself haven`t had this issue on both Lake Country and Hex Logic pads.

Some research indicates that it looks and has similar specs to the US based and from all counts might be the exact same machine.

    Code:
     Tool Specifications
    Amperage: 3.3
    Country of Origin: Switzerland
    Disc Size: 5" (125mm)
    Eccentric Offset: 3/32" (2.5mm)
    Height: 7-5/8"
    Length: 10-1/4"
    No Load OPM: 4,500-13,000
    Rating: 120 V
    Weight (lbs.): 5.0
    Working Length: 5"

    Includes
    Pad Wrench; 5mm Hex -- 1 907 950 006
    Soft Backing Pad -- RS031
    Sanding Disc -- Included
    Microfilter Dust Canister -- RS026
Has anyone used any of these before? If so, attempted to replace the backing plate and whether it`s compatible with a Porter Cable or Meguiars etc?
Psyk: I know this was your first post, but you linked to an external e-commerce site. This is against forum rules. I removed the link to the Bosch site in Oz. Admin

    Psyk,

Could you post some links where the folks in oz land use the Bosch D/A?

I have used the US one to apply AIO, but not much success with Meguires Ultimate compound with a white pad. Just received some orange pads and will try again.

As far as pad sticking, my original pad won`t hold a pad but my replacement works great.

And no you can`t adapt a D/A backing plate used for Porter Cable
