The Flex has a forced rotation, so the backing plate is unique to itself. I believe Edge has made a setup for it though. So, to answer your question, no you can`t use your PC backing plates for it.

I have heard people cutting them down to fit smaller pads.

The Edge 2000 system will not work with the FLEX.

Like Eric said, it takes it`s own unique backing plate.

Re: Working With a FLEX Polisher

is the backing plate plastic? I saw that there is gear teeth in the topside of the backing plate, I would think that might be a problem, Kind of scares me. I am not negative just want to get down to the longevity of the tool. How long has the flex been around? I just would`nt wany to end up like the first wave of people to buy the X-box 360. I really wany one of these polishers after seeing the videos against the PC. I probably will just take a chance on it and buy one eventually when I see enough evidence that it is tool that will last.

Can`t wait for spring so I can really use my FLEX for a good polish! So far I have only used it to apply NXT sealer - works great for that - nice thin, even coat, that goes on fast!

Re: Working With a FLEX Polisher

I bought the Flex when they first came out just cause the pc took so damn long.Ill have to say that the Flex is much better then the pc and that its no comparison.

I also bought a cheap harbor freight rotary to just try and learn on but i like the Flex and dont really have to worry about doing any damage.I got the hang of the rotary pretty quick and all was fine untill i got to close to a trim piece and well you know what happened there.........dumb noob not taping it up.

3M sells the adapter to fit the Flex. I will see if I can find a link.

Just found the link: Shop 3M: Edge E2K Flex Conversion Kit, EF08
