Pad/Polish/Compound/Wax System Rate Please!

All of these pads on a Chemical Guys 5" backing plate on a Griots 6" DA.

Im going to be using a DA polisher for the first time. The car is a 2003 3 Series in Schwarz.

I figure I`ll start with the HD Polish on the MF pad, if that is not enough correction I`ll try the HD Cut on the MF pad and back my way out from there.

Any major issues you see? Red Flags?

I`d do a test spot with the least aggressive combo and go from there ( HD polish & white pad ).

Yeah always start least aggressive. You want to remove as little paint as possible to get the results you want

If this is BMW Jet Black -(look at the paint color tag under the hood)- it will be softer than most paint and can sometimes cause problems if you dont allow for that..

Looking at the paintwork in the direct sunlight, if you see no other color and metallic particles when looking at it from side to side, but only see deep black ink-like color, then its what we all call Jet Black.

The condition of the paintwork (defects, how badly scratched, etc.,) and the amount you are going to remove, based on the contract you made with the Client, should be thought about when you try out your test spot/s..

Chemical Guys 5" Backing plate
Chemical Guys Medium Clay

I have done paint correction at work. But it was with a dewalt rotary using mostly wool pads and questionable compounds/polishes/waxes. The quality of the work is kind of usurped by quantity of vehicles management needs us to push through for the auction. You want to talk about hack detailing lol!

I have experience restoring headlights, doing bodywork, painting etc. But I have been less than thrilled with the processes/methods/products we use at work. It is not in my nature to detail cars this way.

This BMW will be a good challenge and learning experience.
