    Single stage enamel paint correcting

Just few photos of one of our trucks I was playing with. Since getting my new toys for careing for my personal vehicles and expanding my knowledge here I decided to give it a go trying to bring life back to the paint on our (My brother and I) Trucks. These are Mack Garbage trucks with a single stage enamel paint no clear coat. This truck is a 2008 with pretty bad paint also have a 2004 that i will try next that I had assumed needed a repaint but now thinking I may be able to save cab and hood only need to repaint the frame and under carriage.

I only did the top of the hood doing it in pieces as I have time at work and trucks are in for repairs. I used Meguiars 105 on a Yellow Lake country 5" flat foam pad. Second step only seen on the finished whole hood was Black Fire Total Polish and Seal on a White Lake Country flat foam pad. Used Groits Garage DA Polisher with 5" backing plate. tried it with 6" and 6.5 pad on another truck the 5" pad works way better amazing how much more power you get by going down a pad size. I am getting another groits to put 3.75 backing plate on to run 4" pads for tight spots.

First full hood shoots are Before, then after I clayed, then Hood finished.

M 105 + Yellow pad for heavy compound first then TP+S with white pad for final polish and seal.

Whoa! Night and day difference! I bet the "after" truck would sell for thousands more than the "before" truck. Looking good!

Really a great turn around. Takes awhile with the da I imagine? I know the paint is really hard. Great job

I was just surprised your finish came out so well after a heavy compounding and a follow up with such a mild polish in tpns. turned out very nice.

Yeah small sections and lots passes and I used two pads and washed both once so 4 pad changes for the one hood. Had a real lot of paint transfer to the pad.

Congratulations on such a beautiful job !

Meguiars 105 has always been a great compound and can finish down really, really, glossy and clear...
Then if you use Meguiars 205 on after, wow - you just amped up the gloss level again!

    Great job !

Wow great work on that Pete, Yeah it would be a lot faster with rotatory machine but i dont do it for a living so if takes extra time it ok. I am just filling in the times of the day when I have a lull I have to be here 11-12 hours M-F and 8 hours Saturday but there are parts of the day when its just waiting. I saw in your photo`s the roof of the cab the paint had pealed up almost every truck i see 8-10 years old that happens must be UV damage almost no one waxes the roof such pain to get to but that`s what happens with out protection. Amazing work on the aluminum and chrome I hate aluminum polishing so messy every thing turns black and that stuff will stain your hands cloths any thing it gets on. I need to get some acid to use on our aluminum to get them at least clean then decide if i want to try and polish I would if the guys would maintain it but the dont care.

I have 205 also I thought about it but 2 steps "M105" compound and "BFTSP" Polish/sealer was enough work we have 14 big rigs and 3 pick ups and a tahoe. I didn`t want to bite of more then I could chew it will take me a long time to get through them all as it is in my spare time. I planed on using 205 and BFTSP on the ones that are not in bad shape.
