Touchup paint repairs on PBL coated vehicle.

Just got my touch up paint today. Dr Colorchip squirt n squeeze kit for rock chips on my trucks hood and front bumper. Chips are pretty much on front half of hood only. One or two mid hood.

Truck is coated with Pinnacle Black Label Paint Coating.

Do i need to polish the hood first to remove the coating? I`m assuming its non existet in the rock chip areas anyways.

My plan is pbl wash, iron x, rinse, dry.
-Then, if needed/recommended...light polish-or maybe just a machine polish with pbl surface cleansing polish on hood and front bumper but that won`t remove the coating.

Then hit up the rock chip areas with pbl surface cleansing polish.
    Then paint chip repair kit.
Re-coat hood and front bumper a day or so afterwards.

Anything wrong here let me know. I want to get this done this evening.

    Thanks.

I would clean, clay, and polish the area surrounding the chip(s) (or the entire panel if that makes it easier for you).

    Do the repair, then re-coat.

Like any other coating, etc., application, I would want the area/s to be totally clean of anything that would not allow the paint to stick to the surfaces you fill...

This product works best in the shade and the temp of the panel/s should not be blazing hot either... Its paint... you need time to let it flow for a few minutes or whatever they want it to be, and then go over it with the 2nd bottle that will clean up the over painted areas and help leave the painted areas flat and shiny..

    Good luck !

I would wait a day or two, just to ensure the new paint fully sets up.

This Dr colorchip kit is very easy to use.

I used the squirt and squeeze kit and dropped one or two drips of paint and then spread with the included rubber blade.
Dried for a couple of minutes and then used the blending solution.
It works pretty cool. I didn`t get any pics of this process but the stuff you rub on there turns it from sorta dried paint to white etching mark to nothing at all, with just a little rubbing.
I didn`t feel comfortable using their included paper towel like cloth so I switched to a better low cost mf towel.

It doesn`t exactly fill in the whole rock chip marks but it does put some paint in there and make them much less noticeable. The small chips are history but a couple of the larger ones look like this after two rounds of touch up.

The paint has set about 18hours now and I`m going to recoat the hood and other parts I touched up before I go to work this afternoon. Truck can only have the garage for another day or so. Can`t stand the cat that likes climbing o my car. And of course 40% chance of rain.
Gotta get this truck ready for the topping of synergy that I have coming in tomorrow, and the day off.

On the rest of the truck I just opened the paint container and used the included tiny brush to fix isolated chips as the original method was using up all my blending solution at a high rate.

I got the 1 oz paint bottle which is total overkill but they say a shelf life of one year if kept inside so I still have it, and about 80% left.

    Oh,wow...oops....
So far it has held up.

30 days to set, so I guess maybe some optiseal afterwards, because I`m not going to leave the surface unprotected. Or what?
