    Mini Cooper stripes

    Hey Everyone,
I was going to give my Sister-inlaw`s black mini cooper a polish job using a DA polisher and Blackfire TPS. My concern is the hood stripes look like decals to me, not paint. Should I tape these off or do you think a light polish will be fine. Thanks.

Do the stripes feel raised and do they have a different finish or texture? To be safe I would tape them off if you are unsure.

    Re: Mini Cooper stripes

I always polish big stripes and clear bra`s and never have issues..

The only ones I will not polish are those little 1/8" - 1/4" stick on pin stripes.. They are too fragile and might lift up, so I tape those off using 3M 1/8" - 1/4" masking tape..

I go over all stripes and clear bra`s lightly, since they do not hardly ever need correction like paint does... Do not polish on them too much to make them hot..

If there is a visible edge that you can feel, know that you want to polish "Away" from the edge, so you would start, for example from the top or middle and polish lightly away from the edge so you do not move the little amount of polish you use, into the Edge, and later have to remove it..

Also, try to not use product that is bright white, so to lessen the view impact if it accidentally gets into the edges of the stripes or clear bra..

    Good luck !

Thanks Guys. Stripes are raised a bit. I was careful and went over them very lightly and didn`t have any issues. Car came out great. Appreciate the advice.
