PB SSR1 by hand for holograms?

Sorry if this has been covered time and time again, but I searched and didn`t get the answer I was looking for.

Anyways, I was lucky enough to have some really nice holograms installed on my car while it was at the dealer (they attempted to buff out a couple scratched on a dirty surface), but I think it`s time that they come off... Since they`re pretty light, I was thinking of taking some Poorboys SSR1 to the areas by hand. I guess my question here is: is this a good idea? Also, how effective would it be? I want to do as little as possible on these, so advice would be much appreciated!

Also, just to add to it all, I do not have a buffer... By hand is my only option.

    Thanks, all!

I`m sure that this isn`t what you wanted to hear but the simple answer is that it`s time to get that buffer you`ve been considering. I`m not going to tell you that you can`t make a dent in it doing it by hand but it`s a lot of work and chances are you`ll be discouraged before you get to where you want to go.

Definitely considering a buffer, but need to get some practice in before going to work on my new, dark car, haha. Time to rent a car and get some practice in

    Thanks!

Grow a set, and get a flex or rupes, or griots or pc.

Just go easy on pad., speed, and polish, and work on it.

I`ve been doing quite a bit of reading on the Flex buffers, and it`s probably the route I`ll end up going.

I swear by mine. But really it`ll come down to what ya get used to.

Maybe flex for larger areas, gg3" for smaller

great route if ya got the $

Yes you can polish away scratches of any depth by hand, its just a matter of much elbow grease and time you are willing to spend. Also, it is much harder to get a perfect finish by hand because of the uneven pressure your hand produces.

If you do the hand route, I would get some EZGrip HydroTech applicators. Like others have suggested, it might be time to polisher up.

Give it a shot with a diaper towel or even a Microfiber towel at first and see what you get

I would assume that you are going to be left with some marring unfortunately

I want to do as little as possible on these, so advice would be much appreciated!
You could use some Black Hole to just cover it all up until you get a buffer or the next big detail. It is the easiest route possible for sure and will enhance the look of the vehicle all around. Also very very easy to apply by hand.

For an idea of black hole ability, look for a thread of mine called its a cover up.

My bottle of Black Hole should be at my doorstep when I get home! Definitely going to do a little SSR1 before, but can`t wait to give BH a shot.

Black Hole on your doorstep, careful where you step. You could be folded in the fabric of space.

    Another vote for Black Hole.
I just finished my show season prep on my burgundy El Camino, and BH always seems to add a little something, both in areas that I get perfect, as well as areas that are a bit hazed. It`s easy to use by hand or machine and it`ll get those swirls out of the limelight until you make your polisher choice.

Sounds good! Let us know of the results

I have covered up some serious buffer trails and holograms with Black Hole

Re: PB SSR1 by hand for holograms?

So, I took my car back to the dealership to just show my service guy how poorly done the last buffing job was, and he had their "top guy" take a look, and actually did a great job on correcting it! So, now I`ll have my SSR1 and new pads for other scuffs and for when I finally decide to just go over the whole car. Thanks for the help, all!
