Buying Harbor Freight DA POLisher .. which pads?

I am going to get my FIRST DA polisher from harbor freight....

I heard the velcro pad is a 6 inch so people buy new backing that is 5 inch and buy diff color pads..

I have Blackfire wet diamond and i usually use my hand but i want to give the DA a shot..

Which backing do I buy? (link pls)

Also which color pad do i use to apply the Blackfire and I will hand buff it out. (link also pls)

    Thanks.

found this site which sells the 5 inch back plate thing.. and 5 pads for 29..

Mix and Match 5-pk., 5.5" Buff & Shine Foam Pads

    is this good?

do I not need any blue pads?
BTW most/all the cars the i am goign to use this with are new vehicles.

Also remember I only have the Blackfire wet diamond and no other product.. just want to have a pad to apply it and buff it out by hand. Would i still need the black, white and orange? or just a few of one of the color pads?

If all you are planning to do is use the HF DA to apply Blackfire then you just need a couple of B&S red pads.

If you plan to do correction in the future then I would suggest 4 orange and 4 green (as well as the red), but you will need additional products (compound and polish) to accomplish this.

I would 100% go with Lake Country Mfg. They have been innovating and perfecting pad design for quite some time. My personal favorite, on a DA polisher, is the 5.5" CCS design. If you are new to polishing, you might consider the Hi Gloss Pads. These feature a dual-layer, instant rebound foam that helps you to keep the pad flat against the paint`s surface.

Thanks guys!! Yea i don`t have any other products but to apply the blackfire. I do understand that i need to go and get some if I was planning to fix swirls etc..

What is the Orange one for?

Also when applying the BF onto the car, do i have to switch the pad out or could i use one color pad to do a car/multiple car to apply the wax?

Orange is a light cutting pad, designed for moderate swirl removal.

You can use the same pad to wax and entire car, or several cars, provided it doesn`t get too dirty.

Any suggestions on the combination of pads (Constant Pressure 5.5 Inch Hi-Gloss CCS Foam Pads or Lake Country 5.5 Inch Flat Pads 6 Pack - You Pick!) I should buy if I`m just starting? Both cars I`d like to use them on are silver and very difficult to find any swirls.

I plan on starting with a Harbor Freight DA.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks in advance.

I prefer the 5.5 inch Flat Pads. Usually you want a couple orange for light cutting/heavy polishing, white for swirl-free polishing, and red/blue/gold for wax application

Re: Buying Harbor Freight DA POLisher .. which pads?

My suggestion for a 5" Backing Plate is the Meguiars Mirror Glaze G110 DA Polisher 5 inch Backing Plate

Not only will it work great with Lake Country 5.5 Inch Flat Pads 6 Pack 2) Orange 2) White 1) Black 1) Blue

It is THE preferred backing plate for Meguiars DA Microfiber Cutting Discs, 5 inches and Megs D300

Yes, it`s a few bucks more up front but well worth it in the end. The Megs BP runs cooler with microfiber discs.
