Neither. Simple Green was banned from the aerospace industry because it accelerates aluminum oxidation and can/will weaken the surface of the metal. You are much better off with a dedicated engine degreaser, such as Detailer`s Engine Degreaser.

if you have aluminum under there, i heard it will stain it. you would be better with a regular engine cleaner. gunk etc.... pick up at your local auto store. if you do use SG i would dulite it to be safe. 1:1

in the garbage is what i say..Simple green will never be near any part of any car i clean.
if you want something cheap and local get some ZEP purple degreaser and mix it up at 1:10 its a strong cleaner but it wont cause any issues as long as its not sitting on paint for long periods to dry. only $10 gallon at home depot

Can BF APC be used undiluted on stainless steel tips?

Simple green belongs someplace else, not on your car finish.

You can add SG to your wash when your washing some greasy nasty clothes that you just wore to put struts on in your car. Add a half a cup to the wash and it helps get grease off of fabrics.

If the engine is heavily soiled I`ve used both Gunk and CD2. In that order depending on how dirty. I`ve also used diesel fuel and a paint brush when it`s really greasy. If more dusty than oily then Poorboys APC. CD2 leaves a coating that`s a bit too glossy for my taste and I wipe it down before drying. It leaves a more matt like finish.

see there you go...anything strong enough to clear drains is not recommended for paint

still not sure why they put it next to the other car care cleaners in walmart, im sure many people have purchased it and used it on their vehicles

just get a good apc that you can dilute down to several different uses and you will be good to go

Re: Simple green for engine compartment...

I use Purple Power for engines if they are bad. It`s Bio Degradable and cheap. It`s my all time favorite APC. Optimum PC is awesome but pricey and I would not waste on an engine bay unless it`s something I detailed before.
Dressing I use CG VRP cut 50/50 with aqua. Spray it on let it dry.
