Has anyone ever used this combo before? Will it work?

yup, works great. I`ve blown a few pads at speed 6 though so I would recommend a lower speed. I think they are supposed to not go higher than 4 or 5, I can`t remember which.
I love the cutting pads with my PcXP. It is one of the best cutting combos I have on regular DA. I prefer to finish with foam pads though. I may just be personal preference though.
So I can strongly suggest the MF cutting pads and D300 compound on a DA.
You guys think its worth going with the 5" instead of the 6"

I prefer using 5" pads as a standard with a standard DA. I feel like 6 & 6.5 pads are to big and don`t allow for reaching the full potential of the combo.
^ AGREED
I`ve only blown one pad (and it was an early release)
I believe the correct OPM for the MF disc is 4800

Merlin--I contacted Griots customer service shortly after getting my GG6 V2 a little over a year ago. These are the speeds they gave me, but I don`t know if this has changed with the V3 machine:
1-2500
2-3360
3-4240
4-5080
5-5940
6-6800
Excellent update thanks! I believe the new machine speeds are the same.Originally Posted by ski2
I used the GG 6" with the Meg`s 5" MF pads on my sons pewter Civic. When we bought the car I used M105 with orange pads to clean it up, but could not get all the swirls out with 2 passes. With 2 passes of the MF pads the difference was stunning. The best part was the the section I used a finishing polish and pad on did not look much different, so it worked as a 1 Step for me.
It worked fine for me on setting 5.
I have, works ok. Honestly you need a 5 inch pad to really cut. There is just too much pressure distributed over the pad mass to actually get down into the paint, atleast without putting a dangerous level of pressure on the machine.
Just as a reference, if your thinking about using a 3401 with an MF pad it won`t work as designed due to the forced rotation. I found this out the hard way, they are mean for oscillation only.
Does the 5" backing plate that comes with the kit fit on the GG 6" DA?
All of the standard DA machines (PC, Griots, Megs, HF, Shurhold) use a backing plate with a 5/16" thread, so yes the Megs backing plate will work with the GG6.
awesome, thanks for the help
