As I was reading through the thread, I started wondering about this. Using these pads seems similar to wet-sanding. By defect removal, are you talking about deeper swirls, RIDS, that sort of thing? Anyone else try this?

I agree, I`m going to post up some results after this series of tests. One of my buddies who owns a high end body shop recently got into the detailing way of doing things, since I showed him the light he has been helping me out by giving me free test panels from tons of various cars.

I`m going to do some burn through tests on various oem and after market clears with the pe coupled with both pads along fg,pg an hd uno. I will also be posting depth readings of before, during (how fast) an lastly the final burn read. We always talk about the point of no return but it would be nice to actually go there (while being risk free of course).
I am very much looking forward to your results!

CarPro recommends using them via rotary polisher...

That said, some have gotten decent results, provided you keep the pad spinning, when used with a DA. It will take longer...

However, if you don`t have rotary experience and wet sanding experience, then I would NOT recommend these tools...

No small amount of experience with sanding in the woodworking environment, haven`t done any wetsanding on vehicles before. That being said, I`m definitely going to test the pads out on my own vehicles before going after someone else`s.

Do it on a scrap hood, otherwise you will be really regret it. Trust me, it`s better to play it safe.

Order placed, have some shrinkback to take care from a previous minor repair and will give it a whirl on some RIDS as well.

I never would have thought a denim pad could dissolve that orange peel. I really love the detailed photos and the process you described so I can replicate these results with confidence. Thanks!
