Sonus SwirlBuster Polish: Premium Swirl Remover

Sonus SwirlBuster Polish is a premium swirl remover that gently massages the sharp edges of swirl marks while loading the paint with durable, long-lasting acrylic based filling agents. The result is a perfect gloss that lasts with out thinning the paint.

The bottle features 16 oz. of premium swirl busting product.




Like all Sonus products, the directions are clearly labeled on the back.

Sonus SwirlBuster Polish is a premium swirl remover polish that gently massages away swirl marks, cobweb effect, and holograms. Special SONACRYLIX additives fill remaining defects and seal your paint with a tough, highly reflective Acrylic coating.
Sonus SwilBuster Polish creates a deep, dark finish that seems to radiate energy. There`s nothing else quite like it.

Directions (label copy):

Thoroughly clean and dry your car before polishing. Use Sonus SFX Ultra-Fine Detailing Clay to remove bonded surface contamination. For best results, apply SWIRLBUSTER POLISH by machine using a polishing pad. Apply with a dual-action polisher at high-speed or with a rotary buffer at 1,000 to 1,200 RPM. Apply firm pressure. Work the polish until polish film runs clear and buffs out. Don not buff dry. Buff off polish residue with a microfiber polishing towel or bonnet. Repeat if necessary.

In order to test the effectiveness of the Sonus SwirlBuster polish I prepared the paint according to the directions and taped off a 1 1/2` x 1 1/2` section with 3M Green Painters Tape.




A Brinkmann Swirl Finder light highlighted the condition of the trunk: Surface scouring, water spots, swirl marks, and a rotary haze.




I applied 4 dots of Sonus SwirlBuster Polish a fresh 5.5 inch Lake Country Tangerine pad.






I applied Sonus SwirlBuster Polish with a Porter Cable 7424 XP on speed 5, working in back and forth passes over the working area until the polish became opaque.






After the initial pass over the working area, approximately 15 seconds in.




30 seconds after starting, the polish is beginning to turn clear.




Finally a minute after starting and making approximately 4 passes over the area the polish had turned nearly opaque.




I removed the polish using a Sonus Der Wunder Microfiber Buffing Towel revealing paint that looked significantly darker and reflected light much more evenly.






Two 50/50 shots using just the shop UV light and then the Brinkmann Swirl Finder.






I pulled the M3 into the sun in order to better capture the effect.






The Sonus SwirlBuster Polish created the appearance of swirl free paint while maintaining paint thickness.





Use Sonus SwirlBuster as a non abrasive alternative to polishing paint.

Awesome review Todd. I have to get some of this. I know if fills, but that is perfect for most daily drivers, as most people don`t care how long it took to look that good.

This sounds like a good option for when I clean the daily driven cars for friends and family. As NoleFan said, many people don`t know what goes into a full paint correction detail and I don`t detail for a living. This and bbq are two things that I do well enough to help out friends/family when they help me out with things.

This looks exactly like the kind of product I`ve been looking for. Todd, could you find out/clarify the following from Sonus:

1) It says that it can be applied up to 3x for best results. OK, then how soon after the first application can the second one be applied? I assume the second application doesn`t abraid off the first application if done by machine?

2) It sounds like this also lays down protection...so does it require an LSP on top? Also, can this be topped with waxes or sealants.

I`d love to get some, but I would like some clarification first.

It took several wipedowns with IPA, but yes a majority of the deeper swirls returned, but the area was still `darker` than the surrounding paint so there is some polishing action.

I`d love to get some, but I would like some clarification first.

1) Apply immediately afterwards. It can be `layered` for additional filling. I have not tried this yet because I got such good results from one application, but this is my understanding.

2) It does cause waterbeading and leaves protection behind. I would top with additional protection to help lock in the filing agents. I will update with a durability report in the coming weeks.

The acrylics do leave some polymer protection behind, so in the strictest sense, yes. But for maximum durability and longevity, you are going to want to top with additional protection.

Thanks Todd. This sounds like it may be a great step before Klasse HGSG. Which is one of my favorite sealants for superior protection and amazing gloss.
