While I loved the light weight, it was always underpowered, overheated, and didn`t like slow RPM`s at all. And did I mention the noise? I used to think Greg Nichols was just being generous when he`d hand me his Makita on jobs we were working on together. Turns out, he just hated the noise from the Flex!

So I had settled on buying a 9227... until I read this. Glad to hear that Flex has stepped up on their product quality.

Wish they had some sort of a trade in program for unhappy 3403 owners...
The Makita is a fine machine, there is no doubt about it. It would never really be necessary to switch to this little FLEX. Just like a Honda Fit is a great, reliable car that will get you from point A to point B, but it isn`t a SL65 AMG. Nobody needs a FLEX PE, but if you really want (what is IMO) the best polisher with super high quality...

    Hope all is well Supe!

    I Agree!!

We all have different requirements when using a product or machine and I think it`s beneficial to everyone to hear what someone thinks of it. It doesn`t need to be loaded with a lot of technical detail or exhaustive testing but rather some basic, easy to understand opinion on what you think....

I finally got to use it a TNOG at Meguiar`s in Irvine, CA. last Thursday night. I own an old Cadillac and the paint was hard and full of swirls. I ended up using Megs 105 and a light wool cutting pad and finishing with Megs 205 and a black pad. The Flex performed flawlessly and the swirls were gone. Can`t wait to use it on the GF`s car this week.

I love my Flex PE14! I really like that I can still hold a conversation while jeweling down a panel too.

    Flex FTW!

i really envy those who can properly use a rotary. it seems like the only way to go for those hammered finishes and a real time saver.

I want one of these BAD!!

I have a Makita and got a new Dewalt 849x but haven`t used it much yet.

Anyone ever use the Festool Shinex? It looks very similar in size / shape to the PE14-2-150.

i own a de walt and the makita and never got comfortable with either. into the drawer they went. in fact i would sell them in a minute. got the 14-2-150 and since i do a lot of daily drivers and beaters i started with compounds and fell in love with the tool. being a old fart it just makes my life easier to get the cars done with great results. a pound or two on the tool when doing 3/4 ton hd pickups and suburbans is big. i save at least one hour per detail and can actually walk away tired not doubled over. a big yes on this one.
