    3M Perfect-It Ultrafine Machine Polish--What Happened?

I remember when this was hard to get everyone wanted it. You had to order it from Europe or Hawaii...now that it`s easy to get (even comes in a 16oz bottle now) thru PBMG, I never hear anything about it anymore.

Has it really just been marginalized by other products, or is this simply a case of the forbidden fruit? Now that you can get it here, it`s passe? Because everyone wants the new stuff that they can`t get or have to import?

Soon, I`ll be switching all my polishes over to Scholl Concepts. I`ve never used the stuff, but I know a guy who knows a guy who can mule me in some from Europe..... it`s going to be awesome!

    Just kidding.

I remember when this stuff first came out and it was all the rage. Then people fought to get their hands on the UK version instead of the US one. Later folks in the UK started doing threads that UF had fillers. I guess it just fell out of flavor.

Oh yeah...I remember that filler argument...the newer Menzerna polishes got that rap too, but that seems to have died down.

I still use from time to time when needed and it still does the job that I`m looking for. I do remember the filter thing but to me it has almost zero of it and does the job to perfection. It`s one product that a detailer should have in his collection of great products that are needed when working on many customer vehicles.

I think it was Todd at the time who stepped into the great filling debate and argued that the filling was the byproduct of necessary lubricants, and not a deliberate attempt by 3M/Menzerna/etc. to fill instead of remove defects.

I think your right, but I been using it for awhile before the debate of fillers came out and I stay out of it, because I been using it and found to work very well for my needs.

I use it nearly everyday at work as well as the Ultrafine pads. I wouldn`t even care if it did have a little filler in it, I would still use it because its a great product and has never let me down. Ill have to agree with the flavor of the month stuff though. So many people want what Paul Dalton is using, or what they can`t yet get, etc etc. I just waited until the 3M salesman who comes back work started carrying it

I do have and use it, but I find myself reaching for 85RD more often than 3M UF. Both deliver great results though.

I still have both the US and UK versions....don`t use them that often though. I loved the UK pads! It was funny because I asked a 3M rep at SEMA if we could get the UK version of the pads here in the US and he was like it`s already available...I laughed and said they are not the same, then he was like your the second person to mention that today....

I still have, use, and love Ultrafine Machine Polish. Surely has lost some momentum across the internet it seems though.

I never touched the stuff but I`ve seen it happen a lot. Seems like some jump on a band wagon and leave some products behind regardless if they were good and did a fine job
