    PC cord going/went bad

Where can I get a replacement cord for my PC. Mine is bad. Where the cord goes into the back of the machine, the little rubber boot came off some time back. I guess the cord got pulled, tugged, twisted, and turned one too many times. Now I have to hold the cord a certain way for the machine to come on.
    Any info would be appreciated.

(looking for a cord as long as I can get it.)

I would think you could call a place that sells them like coastal tool, or porter and cable themselves and get a replacement cord.

Or just do what I did when I chopped the cord to my skil saw off accidently (while miraculously avoiding being shocked). I cut the end of an extention cord off and spliced the saw to that. Now I have a Skil saw with a 100 foot power cord. You should be able to do the same thing with the PC I would imagine.

If you can take it apart, then why not look inside and see if the connection is bad? I`m sure HD or Lowes sells generic power cords for replacements.

If you do change the cord, make sure you install it with a `stress reliever`. It`s like a grommet that helps prevent the cord from being pulled on and out.

That is why my cord went bad. The stress reliever came apart and has been missing for some time. After a year or so of it missing, it worn the cord out and did something to the wires on the inside.

I took the machine apart to see if it were a connetion, but it wasn`t.
Thanks for the links. I found a cord online and stress reliever online for less than $15.

    Re: PC cord going/went bad

I actually went to Lowes and bought a replacement cord. It was considerably longer than the cord that came on the PC. It worked out nice....
