Question Where to buy Flex rotary?

My friend in the body shop has about worn out his Flex Rotary. The last time he had new brushes installed and general maintenance performed, they told him th motor armature was just plain wearing out.
So far, he has had no luck finding a Flex dealer in Des Moines, Iowa and since the Flex has been, in his opinion, so much better than any other brand, he would like to stay with Flex. He thinks Flex is now owned by a different company due to a purchase some time back.
This is a true rotary and has seen 20 years of pretty tough use. It was a $350 unit 20 years ago.
The one thing it has that he has yet to find in the other rotaries he has looked at is the low speed. The Flex he now owns has a 600 rpm low speed. The ones he is finding have a 1000 rpm low speed. He uses the low speed quite a lot and doesn`t want to give it up.

    Any Flex experts out there?

Right now, he has the repair service checking to see if they can get a new armature assembly for a 20 year old, discontinued model. They are having about as much luck as would be expected.

Thanks, but I think you might be referring to the dual action Flex.
He isn`t interested in that, he definitely wants a true rotary.
The Flex rotary on AG is another one that has the 1000 rpm low speed setting.
Maybe I can get him to order the dual action one and when he is not happy with it, I can buy it for 1/2 price.

    It`s a Model ZLK 302E, SN NR001647
I did a Google search and got a message board in German.

    Thanks.
I didn`t see any low rpm units listed.
Chances are, they are no longer made in that low of a speed range.

He is going to go to a large power tool supplier in Des Moines, (Acme-Puckett Tool), and see what they have or can get.

Makita has buffers that have a 600 rpm low speed setting.
I think he just needs to go to the tool store instead of letting the supplier that calls on him tell him what is available.
He stays so busy, he never has time to go actually look and shop.
