Whats your top 3 heavy compounds?

What`s your 3 top heavy compounds? ? Easy of use? Very low/no dusting? Easy to wipe off? Do you use the same brand or switch it up & use one brand heavy cut & a different brand for a 2000/2500 polish? Curios to hear what you guys use?

    Sonax Cutmax
Scholl S3 Gold XXL (not the most coarse compound but works great with coarse pads as their white spiderpad) compareble with Menzerna HC400.
Tac System Refinish Ultra I have used a little. Did a test spot with a Megs mf cutting pad on an old single stage paint and it where too aggressive combo with this. And the same pad and Scholl S3 Gold XXL was the combo I used. This is also for medium to soft paints where you need a high cut and it`s claimed to be able to correct p600 sanding marks. This also finishes down very good so with a light polishing pad some does some pretty impresive one step polish with this. They have also released Tac System Refinish Ultra Plus which is for the hard clearcoats. With the same claims to correct p600 sanding marks and still able to be finishing as a P12000 sanding paper does. Both these two one step compounds has 2 new different abrasive technology in them. It`s how the aluminum oxide abrasives is heated up and milled that gives them different kind of shapes. Think it`s interesting how they try new things. Would be very interesting to see Refinish Ultra and 3D One head to head in testing.

I have different kind of brands that I usually mix the steps with. Don`t do a whole lot of polishing but when I do it`s fun to try something different. DrOldz recommendations I think would be great to have as the heavy cut compounds setup. Sonax ExCut 05-05/Cut & Finish and Sonax EX 04-06/Perfect Finish would be great for the polishing. And maybe ad 3D One and a very fine finishing polish like Scholl S40 or Koch Chemie M3.01 or/and M210. If you are applying coatings you will get awesome results to use the coating brands primer polishes as a jeweling polish step with them. To squeze the last percent of gloss out from the paint.

Re: Whats your top 3 heavy compounds?

The only Compounds I use are:

-M101 No complaints, but it`s so effective I wouldn`t use it very often, at least not without an ETG
-M105 (both v1.0 and the IMO inferior v2.0) I`m apparently one of the few who always liked it, but it does need to be used the right way
-HD Cut Not what I`d call a "Heavy" Compound by any means, more like an aggressive polish

And I don`t use any of the above much, basically just for spot-correction.

None of the above will finish out OK on any paints; my follow-up is still my old bottle of HD Polish.

IF I were starting over/restocking today, I`d probably go with the BOSS products from Griot`s.

I like the user experience w/ the Griot`s compounds/polishes even w/ m/f pads. For me the fast correcting cream doesn`t have the cut as Wolfgangs uber compound....

I use Groit`s FCC 99.9% of the time. If I need more cut I`ll reach for M101 but then it`s a dusty mess.

Re: Whats your top 3 heavy compounds?

I can usually find at least one of these to work well on just about any car paint that I`ve had to work on so far.

    Menzerna HC400
    Scholls S3 Gold XXL
    Sonax Cutmax
    Megs 101
    Griots FFC

Agreed about HD Cut. Its a light compound at best.

No problem. It`s strange that we can`t get the dislike off as it happens that we accidently hits it.

Re: Whats your top 3 heavy compounds?

I dont have a particular order.

Meguiars MF compound D301 (I think is the nomenclature)
Mothers Heavy Duty Rubbing Compound (probably my last choice but I have a 32oz bottle to use up)
    Griots Fast Correcting cream.
And add to the bottom of the list HDOne. Used with a heavier pad it can do some pretty impressive cutting and it has a really really loooooooooooooooooong working time.

    Hope this helps.

D301 is the finishing wax, I think you meant D300, which I still use on some occasions and is very good.
