    Hard Paint or Soft Paint?

How do you know if I have hard or soft paint?

From what I understand Japanese cars usually have soft paint, unsure of German cars.

Specifically, any idea if my 2018 Porsche Macan has hard or soft paint? Do they change from one model car or manufacture to another?

For paint correction, harder paint needs more aggressive compounds and pads, correct?

Wait for Sizzle chest to help...

But does it matter? If it needs correction, give it a test spot and get it done.

I have Detailed a fair amount of Porsche vehicles including Cayenne models and the paint has always been on the harder side, for sure on older models..

There is no better solution to determining and then knowing the paint hardness than doing a test spot as RonK has already said above...
And even more so as the Automakers are using more water based paint and putting less of it on there..

Re: Hard Paint or Soft Paint?

Until you do a test spot using the least aggressive method first you won’t know. Doesn’t matter if you’ve done a hundred of the same car, they can change clear from one car to the next. It makes no difference on what car it is on, you just need to dial it in.
