    Compounds with Diminishing Abrasives...

Looking for a compound right now to use with my sexy new RUPES 21 MKII, YEEEEE HAAAAAW!!!!

Oh excuse me, sorry about that. But anyway I would like a compound that has a great amount of cut and leaves a decent amount of gloss with absolutely no fillers or silicone. What can anyone reccomend?

Right now Merenza 400 has caught my eye and so has M101, but the price has got me looking elsewhere. But I`m pretty sure it`s worth it. Does anyone know any other good compounds that fit this category?

The SSR`s all have diminishing abrasives .. depending on how abrasive 2.5 or 3 will both work
life is short ..do it while you can

Just wondering what size grit sanding marks can ssr 2.5 remove? I also like the fact that this can be used in the sun

AND, they smell great. Easy to work with. SMELL GREAT.

(I have a tendency to keep Rupes as a system, though, hence my post)

I`ve had good experience using regular foam pads as you would other polishes. Lake County, Buff and Shine (for both, I used the foam, thin foam. Haven`t tried them with the newer offerings (HD, Long throw, etc)). For heavier cut, I`ve used Megs MF Cut Discs.

I utterly *LOVE* M101, but it`s not a Diminishing Abrasive product (which, FWIW, is one of the things I like about it as IMO I can better control the work-time).

I loved working with M101 by hand. It`s the only compound that produced fast results just how I wanted.
Treat it like it`s the only one in the world.

Yes indeed, works so well by hand that I actually give a little thought to how much clear it`s taking off. Game-changer for tight spots.

Eh, I`m currently on even more of a NONdiminishing Abrasive kick than usual as my good painter did that damage to the Jag by working the paint too long waiting for his Menzerna would break down (I work that paint for *seconds* at a time).

I would try finishing pads first and let the products do their work, break down and then they will finish off better with the softer pad

This is also what I use, but usually use the blue microfiber pad.

I believe this product carries a combination of both types of abrasives.

    Re: Compounds with Diminishing Abrasives...

Can`t go wrong with Menzerna. I e used Wolfgang Uber compound, total swirl remover and finishing glaze- all derivatives of main Menzerna products and manufactured by Menzerna for PBMG.

Didnt much care for m101, haven`t used it THAT much but I could never get a great feel for it. Seems like it`s dried up when it hasn`t really. Just seems tricky from a consistency standpoint. I always had the temptation to spritz but then it turned into a splattery mess. Just never could find the sweet spot for how I wanted to work.

Ive found the Menzerna products to be more predictable in terms of how many passes I can get, and how they look and feel in relation to work time left, from a visual standpoint. Just easier to see how I`m doing that way, from my experience.

I like m205- versatile in cut and finish and can be worked all day if you want- but wouldn`t spend on m101 again ever.

I agree JROCK, but aren`t some Menz products DAT and some SMAT?

Very well may be. I`m no expert but I`d gotten the impression Menzerna was primarily DAT. But, times are changing, so they may be changing some formulations over.
