    Whats next

    Hello everyone,
I just purchased my Porter Cable DA what would be a good choice for pads for a beginner are the Edge pads good or is there something else that would be better?? Also what types of compounds or polishes would be good for starting out?

Buy the Edge pads, you won`t be disappointed and they are very easy to use.

AutoGeek has a nice Edge kit for $99 right now. Can`t really beat it to start up. It`s nice to have 2 pads within one, but if it rips, you`ve just lost $18.

As far as polishes for a beginner using the PC, Poorboys is great. How old is the car you want to work on? Lots of swirls, oxidation?

I have a 2003 Grand Am--white and a 2006 GMC Pickup--burgandy. They both have nice paint with some light swirling. What type of poorboys polish would you recommend??

For PoorBoys Polish, I would go with either SSR1 or ProPolish, and apply either with a polishing pad.

Maxima, can you elaborate on your comments above? Why if you rip the pad have you lost $18? If you rip a single sided pad did you loose the $9-$11 per single sided pad? or do you just keep using it with the rip? If you tear the Edge2000 pad a little why not flip it over and use the other side? or just keep using the side with the tear? I am of course assuming the rip is not so substantial that it renders the pad usless. But if it did that kind of rip on a single sided pad you would have lost the whole pad, but on the E2K you just flip it and use the other side. I am not sure why you would loose $18? Can you clarify?

    Re: Whats next

I guess if you rip it all the way through somehow, that`s $17.99 down the drain. Not sure how you could tear a whole pad apart though... ?
