    Hyundai paint depth ~

I`ve had very little experience with hyndai, I know the paint is medium to soft but I`m getting rads of 105 on the hood an other tops panels. Doors are hovering around 70-80 is this normal? I thought the Audi was thin at 89 average. Are hyndai`s normally this low?

2013 Sonata, I clocked the jambs at high 40`s.

Wouldn`t be surprised. Car manufacturers set up the equipment to paint the vehicle with as little product as possible to do the job. its all about money. Less paint means less expense.

I found my wife`s Hyundai to be on the low side ( paint depth ) and easy to correct. As always be careful on any paint when doing correction.

My pro-detailer friend (does it for a living so I call him a pro) went trough the clear paint on an almost new Hyundai Veloster with his Rupes 21. He warned me to stay way from these without a PTG...

    Needless to say be careful.

Yup, I`m keeping to a limit of 3 - 4 microns as far as shaving. It should be sufficient enough to get most defects including the holograms and type II water marks out.

You are measuring in - Mils or Microns ?

    1 Mil = 25.4 Microns

Measuring in microns, mils aren`t accurate enough for imo.
