    Detailing Sunday......need help/advice??

    Hey guys,

Well I got all of my products in finally. I am planning on starting the detail process on Sunday. My car is Azure Blue so you can see spiderweb scratches and what not pretty good. So i was gonna use PB SSR2.5 with a light cutting pad?? What do I need to do to get rid of the swirls?? What is the best way/process to do this??

I have used this combo on a car before and it seemed like it didn`t remove the swirls that well, so I figured I must not have moved the pad across the section enough??

Any tips send them my way, I can`t wait to get started.

    Thanks
    Brent

Brent- There may be several reasons to your problems. One may be the light cutting pad. Try a polishing pad next time, it`ll work fine. Make sure that you use the right amount of product and make sure you work it in long enough. Working it in long enough is the key with 2.5. Check out this thread for more info:

BlkYukon also has some great pictures on how to use different products- do a seach for that too. Or just click the link below

Good job Bud. I tried to rep you but I was denied.

Remember that 2.5 takes TIME to work in. I think Steve does 4-5 mins/panel/pass with a PC.

    Re: Detailing Sunday......need help/advice??

    Thanks for the help guys.

If you don`t mind, tell me what you think about this...
The use of all of these products may be ridiculous, but I want this car to be so shiny it hurts to look at, if you spit on it I want your spit to run off....haha

Anyways this is what I was gonna do:

    Wash (SSS)
    Clay (Pinnacle)
    PB SSR2.5
    PB SSR2 (or 1)
    PB PP
    PB PwC Blue
    EX-P
    Natty`s Blue

So that is why I mentioned using SSR2.5 with a cutting pad because I would probably follow it with SSR2 (or 1...which do you think)??

Does this process look okay...any changes you think I need to make to get better results....

If the swirls are that rough and need the light cut then go for it. And your spot on for using the 2 or 1 to clear up any hazing left behind from the pad. If you do the SSR1 after the 2.5 you can go right to the EX-P. You won`t ever need to do PP and PwC on the same vehicle. You can use one or the other or just leave off with the SSR1. Sometimes I even go to LSP right from the 2.5 without further polishing. Then wait 24 hours before you top natty`s and be prepared for an outstanding finish!

    Wash
    Clay
    PB SSR2.5 polishing pad
    PB SSR1 polishing pad
    PB PP finishing pad
    EX-P x 2 by hand
    Natty`s Blue by hand

Skip the PB PwC if using a sealant, go with the PP.

your process is solid as it reads. If you are willing to do the work that it takes to use every product that you have listed you will have a clean shiny car that is fully protected.

If I were to do a detail with the products listed I would consider not using some of the redundant processes. I would do it in this order

    wash
    clay
    SSR2.5
    SSR1
    EX-P
    24 hours later natty`s Blue

I feel that after the claying, SSR2.5 and SSR1 that ProPolish and PwC are redundant steps. Unless you are doing this with a rotary then ProPolish could be substituted for the SSR!. Yet I think I would stay with SSR1 given the fact that I am mostly a PC user and cannot induce the heat necessary to get ProPolish to work properly for a burnishing effect.

I agree with kirk (cwcad) that the PP and PwC are just wasted steps and wont really improve upon anything.

Sounds great guys, thanks for all of your help.

I will be using a PC 7424....So I can use either PB PP or PwC Blue?? The only reason I really want to use the PwC is because I just bought it and I hate not to use it...lol

IMO what ever its worth this is what I do with my torch red mustang and the shine is second to none
    clay
SSR2.5 with a polishing pad pc on 5.5
PB PwC blue with a polishing pad pc on 3
PB EX with a blue pad pc set on 1.5
wait 2 hours and wipe off the EX
apply 2nd coat of EX by hand with a damp sponge applacator
wait 2 days apply 3 coats natty`s blue waiting 1 hr between coats

this is what I do and it looks great will post pics soon good luck
