    Newbie from Florida

I just bought two new Subarus for my wife and myself and want to learn all I can about car care. Thought this would be a good place to learn. Since the cars were detailed before I got them a couple of weeks ago and the paint is in great shape.. just curious what I should use wax/sealant wise to maintain a nice appearance? And how often should I apply? We have a lot of bugs and heat here that I need extra protection from and my cars are silver. Thanks! Chris

welcome chris. congrats on the new rides. silver is also one of those colors that doesn`t show dirt as much as some, but still needs care. you basically have three options, waxes, sealants, or coatings and durability of each increases in that order. before applying those, you want to make sure the surface is defect free or mostly so, and that is usually done by polishing/compounding depending on paint condition. some dealers actually impart defects with their washing/detailing as ron implied above, or they can temporarily hide them with different products. tons of great info here on the site or you can get assistance anytime with todd and the autopia care care folks.

Welcome to Autopia! Which two Subaru`s do you have? I recently detailed a 2014 Forester and applied Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Surface Coating, it`s been a little over 100 days and the coating still looks great: 2014 Subaru Forester Detail (multiple Rayviews) - Imgur

The paint looks good and was really slick when I got it.. almost greasy but not that it has had one wash it is not longer really slick but still nice. I really just want to keep wax on it for now until it is time to "redo" everything. What would you do in my situation?

Greasy as in heavy filler oils. wash a few times = all gone

If ya just want to keep it "nice" just get some
Poorboys Polish with sealant or Blackfire Total polish and Seal

It`ll clean it a little better as weill as last longer than wax in the FL sun
