    New after long absence

I used to read the board religiously and post occasionally a very long time ago under what name I have no idea
Anyways, long story short, have been using AIO topped with FMJ for what seems like forever (after going through the obligatory trials of other products), but running out of the latter and, of course, its no longer available. I know the durability issues with FMJ, but it looked so great on my black F-150 and was so easy to apply that it really wasn`t an issue for me. Came back to the board to look for a replacement, and I feel like I`ve been out of school for 20 years!

Seems that BFWD would be close (?) or, perhaps, Menzerna Power Lock? I have some BF Midnight Sun Wax that I`ve never used, but I do like the "hard" look from the AIO/FMJ combination so not sure I want to go that way on the new truck (black, but it`s the tuxedo black with Xirallic). Regardless, I like the AIO too much to change that part.

Going to do a bit more searching for an FMJ-replacement polymer, but feel free to suggest here....especially if I`m off-base with the 2 I`ve mentioned (if it`s appropriate in an intro thread).

Nice to be back in school!

Klasse sealant glaze would look amazing over black but I have to say its been a very finicky product for me .

But I have heard you can water it down and use it as a quick detailer spray.

Im sure others will give you some great ideas.

I also was very happy with FMJ and actually still have some. I had the same dilemma and have found BFWD to be a more than suitable replacement. It is now my sealant of choice on most jobs. Great look, easy to use and better durability. I was a little concerned when CMA closed that I was going to have to find yet another favorite sealant. Midnight sun would likely look amazing on your truck if you aren`t worried about durability. I get best results from 3 coats. Over top of BFWD it provides the best of both worlds.

I think you should definitely pick up some BFWD and give it a shot.

    Edit: And welcome (back).

Hi Ernie...Welcome Back !!!! I used to be a big fan of FMJ and still have a bottle laying around. I now find that BFWD is so much easier to use and lasts so much longer.

    Re: New after long absence

Thanks folks. Board is as helpful and friendly as I remember it. I`ll give Wet Diamond a shot.....wish I had some now.....put the second coat of Klasse AIO on the truck today, pulled out the little bit of FMJ I had left.....unfortunately, chemistry (and, it would appear, fungal growth) got the better of it. A third layer of AIO (applied gently will do until the Wet Diamond gets here (third coat prob not necessary.....just a mental thing . Still, AIO does give a pretty amazing shine by itself.

Thanks again for the suggestions and the warm welcome!

    ernie
