    -Looks at cars and says "Damn, I could make that car look <em class=`bbc`>good[/i]."
    -Pauses in every store they are in to check for possible detailing supplies?
    -Wanders the arts and crafts section with old ladies looking for foam paintbrushes and carpet pile-cutters?
    -Finds themself giving car care tips to the other customers at Pep Boys?
    -Stares in horror when someone picks up a bottle of Armor-All and shows them a safer alternative?

    You are obsessed when you:

    * park under fluorescent lights to check for swirls;

    * hand-rub leather conditioner into your seats;

    * remove your wheels to clean the inside of them;

    * apply 303 to the wheel wells; and

    * have more layers of AIO/SG than you can remember.

    I have a neighbor who washes his cars weekly as well. Others on our street comment that between the two of us, we should have a wash-off to see who cleans their car more often.

    i`m just a junior autopian.. but i`d say i`m obsessed... i make $7.50 an hour (work 30 hours a week and am a full time student at a high class college) i pay for my insurance and car (well part of.. parents help out a tad) and i`m managing to save up enough to spend an estimated $800.00 total on all my car cleaning suplies... i`m a math person at heart so i`m tempted to calculate how many of hours of work that was for me (taking into account my other bills and things) but i think the result would scare me and the people that know me. I`m also willing to spend 12 hours detailing someone elses car for free... but find it hard to dedicate 10 minutes to anything else

    I clean cars as a hobby. I have a PC polisher with CMA pad kit. I have $400 in other detailing supplies which includes all the pads, towels, applicators, bottles of product, wash mitts, wash pads, waxes (Souveran, #26, Gold Class, Blitz, samples from Automotive International, and the good old days of TW and Armour All), polishes, glass cleaners, dressings (3L of Vinylex!), and numerous other products.

    I look at other cars and see what I can do to them. I get constant references to do other people`s cars.

    Sad thing is.............I don`t even have a car!

    or a drivers license

    or even a permit

    but I will get my permit by the end of March!

    LOL Jason! I can`t imagine how you`ll be when you do get your license and your first car.

    I look forward to going to Macy`s or Linen`s N` Things with my wife so I can check if there are any sales going on for RV towels.

    yeah I always find myself looking in the Sunday paper to see if there is a sale on RV`s and Charisma`s at Macy`s ....my girlfriend thinks I`m nuts that i`m getting all of these high quality towels just for my car and not myself.

    u sound like me, I have a string of rules and make sure that if someone gets in the cars they open and close the doors with the handles not by touching the glass!!!!!!!!!! I also get mad if someone fingers the paintwork - or even worse eats in them droping all sorts of crumbs . Yeah im a car nut but I LOVE IT.

    One thing we all have - and this u all must admit we take pride in our cars - whats wrong with that??? People take pride in other things/intrests - this happens to be most appealing to me by nature.

    Next time someone doesn`t seem to understand why you spend so much time on your car, ask them how much TV they watch per week. Then ask them what they gained from it. That often shuts people up.

    Yeah im going to try that. I was once taking the Arange into town and i spent ages doing it up, it was about 95% near perfect - absolutely spotless - and i dropped off my cousin and waited in the car. I overheard a man walking past who said to another man - "I bet he cleans that everyday" - I felt like getting out and shoving a bottle of wax down his throat and saying so what if i do, at least my car is looked after. I mean people take up all sorts of intrests such as collecting models, etc etc.. But what we all do here at Autopia is simply car for our cars - some of us may do it just to keep the car looking good, others for business what ever the reason dont ever let anyone stop u doing what u like - would they like it if u criticised them over their intrest - which probably is sitting on there backsides.

    I almost think I am more "possessed" than obsessed. I have a little detailing demon that lives inside me. Last night I begged a friend to let me use his red-ish mustang as an experiment. I saw oxidation on the hood and knew that it would be a perfect car to get some good "before and after" pics. I want to do 1/4 of the hood with Klasse and 1/4 of the hood with Blackfire and then leave the other half alone. The pictures should really be informative. He lauged when I was begging him. I thought about it all night. It has gone far beyond obsession. I like that idea that came up last year regarding business names. "Obsessive Compulsive Detailing" or "OCD-etailing" for short.
