    Hello From MC, Louisiana

What`s up guys? Just wanted to say hello and get some knowledge from you professionals. So bare with me if I ask a lot of questions. I am thinking of opening a mobile business down here. There is noone for about 70 miles around. I own my lawn service business for the last five years, just need a change so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, hope to talk to a few of you soon.

Here in Florida a lawn business is more desireable than a mobile detailing business so I wouldn`t get rid of your lawn business to start a detail business unless you know it will work.

A well esteblished lawn business can be sold for big bucks because you have mostly repeat accounts that pay regular. A detail business is very hard to sell here. Even if you have a bunch of regular contracted accounts.

It`s harder to fill a good detailer`s shoes than it is to go in and take over a lawn service.

I hate to discourage anyone from starting a detail business just make sure you give it some thought before going in. I know lawn guys who have worked their business all their life and sold it and used the money to retire. I just don`t see that happening with most mobile detailing services.

    BTW, Welcome to DC.

    First welcome to DC
Second, I agree with Troy ..yes it happens every once in a blue moon

Even though detailing is not the most difficult of careers, it does take time and experience to do properly... this not a profession where books and reading can substitute for hands on experience...
Doing your own or your families vehicles is much different than having a time schedule and working on the unknown with someone else`s expectations.
Good luck, but move forward with caution and as it has been said before .."don`t give up the day job" at least not yet
life is short ..do it while you can

I like beer. On occasion I will even drink a beer to celebrate a major event such as the fall of communism or the fact that our refrigerator is still working.
