    Hello from Naples Florida

    I am making my detail business official next week. I am 44 and this has been a hobby of mine since I was 15. Presently I also own a flooring removal business, but I am growing tired of how commercial accounts make thier own payment terms! The detail business has one great thing I believe, and thats generating income everday. My shop is located in a very succesful large auto repair shop. So I am banking on having a lot of people already coming to me, which has already started happening. I will lurk the boards to see how many questions I can get answered on my own. My first big one is which buffer to get!! I have started to read some of the links. Also still seeking a clever name!!

    Welcome to DC! Have you had any experience with any machine detailing or has it all been by hand? There are a lot of choices and experience plays a huge role in deciding which one will best fit your knowledge, ability and needs. I hope you enjoy your stay.

    Just a bit on this....my thoughts are to brand yourself with a good reputation for quality of work and customer service. The name IMO will only be secondary...I`ve built a good customer following...based on service and quality of work...I`ve taken work from the local shops, with the snappy names, only because they don`t deliver like I do

    Thanks guys! Troy, I will be talking to you soon! Yes I have some experience with machines. I have been around cars all my life, and have built a few muscle Mopars over the years. I was part of the pit crew for the original "Draggin Wagen" driven by the late Dave Duell. The information on this website is nothing short of incredible! Now what are you guys using to clean the window? Type of rag and cleaner? Did a 07 BMW convert. today. Car was in bad shape and left like new. I just didn`t like the way Stoners with a microfiber felt across the window. (feels like its dragging). I am currently reading all product reviews on was/cleaner sealant etc. Might take me a month to sort it out!

    I am using what you did today Stoners and a MFT...I find that some times the windows on some cars that have not been cleaned in a while or the car is real new...there is a build up...I get some APC on a MFT and pre-wipe the window to get started...surprisingly this picks-up residue...then the Stoners and the MFT towels works like a charm.....I use two MFT while cleaning the windows...one to wipe the window and the other to buff to a streak free window
