Looking to learn more about detailing and car care.

I am interested in learning more about how to care for my cars and also potentially get feedback from experienced members in regards to what products or detailers they use in New York.

MBi- Welcome to Autopia! I seldom post on the Intro Yourself threads, but something Dan posted caught my eye:

That. Build a knowledge base and develop an understanding of this stuff instead of just jumping in (heh heh, especially before jumping in with a credit card at online vendors ).

Big Topic to study up on: How does paint get (hopefully just cosmetically) damaged? How to avoid that?

Whether you DIY this stuff or hire a Pro, knowing what`s-what will be highly valuable, and this is a perfect place to learn.

Thanks guys for the feedback that I should focus on the methods to use instead of products. I`m very hesitant especially with wheel cleaners after seeing reviews on Amazon where their finish is ruined, but I assume people leave the chemicals on the wheels too long. I have seen anodized calipers get ruined by the wrong products being used on them from I assume the car wash. Don I`m pretty far from you as I am downstate but I appreciate your offer and I hope anyone on the forum thats near you takes you up on such a offer.

A lot of them don’t check the finish of their wheels. Once you know that your fine. People se 4.5 star reviews and are all excited.
