    Newbie from down under

    Hi all,

I’ve been lurking for a few months and finally had time register so I could ask some ultra-newbie questions.

I have a 2018 VW Golf GTI Original and a 2105 VW Polo GTI. Both are red, and the latter really needs some work.

I’ve watched a tonne of YouTube vids to try to learn how to use a DA polisher and I’m slowly building up a list of tips from the fantastic Autopia community.

Nearly 9 months ago I bought a budget/consumer grade Apex Customs Sensei 6” DA polisher. In Australia there are nearly no low priced DA machines. Or you have to spend around US$400-600 and they’re aimed at professionals. I’ve been lacking confidence in how to use it after unsatisfactory success at removing some marring from the C-pillar of the Polo. But the polish was really hard to wipe off so I knew I was doing something wrong. Anyway, I’ll take that to a separate topic.

    Ben

You probably will need to step up to an orange or equivilant compounding pad and a compound to remove deeper marring. Then follow with a finishing polish on a polishing pad.
