    New to AF

Hey everyone, New to the forum wanted to introduce myself. Ive always had ```` boxes that I liked to keep clean by running them threw swirl factory aka the car wash. I just picked up a super clean E46 M3 Cabrio in Carbon Black with cinnamon interior and want to keep it looking CLEAN! So I joined to find the proper techniques and products to do so

Ohhh welcome to the forum! Love the e46 M3s and that is definitely a nice combination. Enjoy it. Starting with the right washing methods is a good place to start so that you are not taking it through the swirl-o-matic aka car wash.

Welcome! You will need to polish after compounding to get the best finish prior to waxing. I would suggest you decontaminate your paint prior to compounding. Iron-X followed by clay would work. Protect the cloth top with 303 Fabric Protectant. You will need a nice horsehair brush to maintain the top. Those fabric tops are expensive to replace so you need to take extra care with it.

Just got my brush and 303 kit this morning! That`s Saturday mornings project.

I was going to Clay her before hand, and since you brought it up is there a huge diff between heavy med and light clays? Ive only ever used the mothers kit and Im not sure they told me which one they give you in the kit. how do you know which one to use?

If you are going to polish it really doesn’t matter. The more aggressive clay may mar the paint a little more than the fine. I’ve used the Megs clay kit and it was pretty good.
