RachelMarks- Welcome to Autopia!
My short-version advice is to learn how to wash a vehicle without marring it. Infinitely more difficult that most would ever imagine but arguably the single most important aspect of detailing. IMO the stuff most people think about (e.g., "which wax is best", "how do I polish out these flaws") is all secondary to not messing up the paint when washing/drying.

Yes I do. Hyundai Elantra 2016.
Very Good Advice. I usually take my car to auto-detailing shop for manual wash
Welcome!
Manual, as in a person actually washes the car, or they run your car through a tunnel full of brushes and then dry it down by hand afterwards? Either way, it probably isn`t the best way to keep your vehicle looking new.
Be warned: You`re standing on the edge of a black hole that neither money nor sanity can escape. Once you start detailing the car yourself, you`ll get sucked in and it`s all over.
I can`t believe you guys are still playing along with this.
