    Hello from Wilmington, NC

New here. A lot of good info! I drive a 2008 BMW M3 E90 in Silverstone II Metallic.

I`m about to attempt my first paint correction/full detail on the car.

I decided on the following lineup to get the job done. Hope I have what I need.

    Griot`s Garage 6" Orbital
Chemical Guys Hex Logic 6 pad kit with pad cleaner
    Nanoskin AutoScrub Fine grade pad
    Nanoskin Glide
    Meguiar`s M105 32oz
    Meguiar`s M205 32oz
    Mezerna PowerLock Polymer Sealant

    Welcome!!

As long as your cleaning your pads on the fly and don`t use them to cross contaminate (ie using the same pad for compound and polish and or sealant) you should be fine. I personally would recommend getting more pads.

Some of the more senior members may have more / better advice for you.

    Again, welcome

    Welcome from Hillsborough.

Can you post some pics of the paint with the sun reflecting on it to show the marring you trying to remove?

Fellow BMW owner here. I`d suggest going with the following instead:

    • Griot`s Garage 6 inch Polisher
    • Dual Action 5” Flex Backing Plate
    • Nanoskin AutoScrub Fine Grade Wash Mitt
    • Nanoskin Glide
    • Menzerna Super Heavy Cut Compound 300
    • Menzerna Super Finish SF-3500
    • 5.5 inch CCS Orange Light Cutting Pad (x3)
    • 5.5 inch CCS White Polishing Pad (X3)
    • Foam Pad Conditioning Brush

That combo will give you great results and are all available right here on Autopia.

Another less expensive route you could take is:

    • Griot`s Garage 6 inch Polisher
    • Dual Action 5” Flex Backing Plate
    • Nanoskin Autoscrub Speedy Prep Fine Grade Sponge
    • Nanoskin Glide
    • HD Speed
    • 5.5 inch CCS White Polishing Pad (X3)
    • Foam Pad Conditioning Brush

The above will also give you great results while helping reduce your DA learning curve.

    How`s your microfiber towel collection?

Thanks for the suggestions. Microfiber collection is strong haha. I have a bunch of the yellow ones from Costco, Griot`s Speed shine blues, and some red ones coming that I got for free with the Griot`s 3" I just ordered from here. Oh and some Chemical Guy`s green workhorses.
