    New To This Forum

Hey all. Just introducing myself. I detail as my daily job and am starting my own business soon. (with my employers permission of course). Anyway I figured I`d join here to see any tips that I don`t regularly use, other products that may help in certain scenarios, etc. I`ve looked at a bit of people`s work and it`s nice to see people out there doing things the way it should be done. Seems in my area my work is the only place that actually spends enough time on cars to get it as perfect as possible. Everywhere else is a 15 minute wash and vacuum and then dare to call it a detail. Anyways Hello to all. Glad to be here.

    - Kenny

    Welcome.

Enjoy the site and people. A good bunch of talented detailers.
Formerly the "Best Detailer", now just Super Wax Waster Man. Not necessarily tactful, but normally right. It`s good to be da King !!!

Thank you. I am from South East Washington. Services include scratch removals (I`d really like to start doing touch up paint corrections only on the really deep ones I rarely can`t get out), of course I paint wheels and fender wells when needed, full interior including all the tiny nooks and crannies people don`t really think about and of course full carpet and fabric shampoo and stain removal, water spot removal. Anything I can do to get the car as perfect and close as possible to new again. I fortunately have a reputation here as being thorough with my clients. So I`m working on widening that customer base.

Thank you all for the welcome.

    Re: New To This Forum

Welcome Kenny. Sounds like you`re doing quite a bit of production work (nothing`s wrong with that btw).

Once you venture out, my advice would be to focus on the business side of things rather than the detailing details. You can always improve on the craft but learning how to run/maintain a business is another beast. I spent 2 years of my life opening up a shop. I had to learn how to advertise/market for the business and finally built a client base. It is not as easy as some professionals make it.

However, if you are doing this out of your home with little overhead and as a side income you shouldn`t have too much of a hassle. It still is a task to bring in customers to have their vehicle detailed by you. Hopefully the reputation you`ve built with your job will have those customers following you wherever you go. Good luck and Welcome again Kenny.
