Howdy from Texas. I recently rubbed against a yellow rubber coated pole with my wife`s white expedition! Doh! So I wash the truck, clay bar, a little rubbing and polishing by hand, and 99% of the paint transfer was removed and the finish still looked great. I wanted it to look 100% so broke out my 10 year old PC7424, a white polishing pad, a little polish, and went to work.
At that point I had catastrophic backing plate failure! NOOOO!!! The foam on the backing plate disintegrated, and I almost put the spinning/oscillating backing plate right into paint! Luck would have it that I did NOT, and saved the day, but now I need a new backing plate, and my pad is shot since it went spinning off into gravel.
I`ve been on an autopia mailing list since I bought the PC, don`t know if I was a member here before or not, and they had a good sale going on and I picked up new 5" backing plate, some new LC 5.5" pads, and added in the Klasse Twins since I have always been interested in them but for whatever reason just had always stuck with Meg GC.
So...my shipment comes in today, I`m going to do my car first (2012 Autumn Bronze Mazda 6) and then my wife`s 2010 white tri-coat Ford Expedition EL. Living in TX, we are currently out of drought, but that doesn`t change the fact that it could come back...so I am going to try some waterless & rinseless (thinking Meguiar`s D114 but I`m open to try a few and see what works best) and some sort of spray wax just for maintenance (thinking D156). But who knows, I`m not a brand snob so willing to try different things. First things first I need to get the Klasse on and go from there. Hopefully the Klasse looks good on my very dark metallic and my wife`s white metallic...that`s the first challenge!
