    Hello, Detail City!

I stumbled across this site using Google the other day while searching for some new products to use for my car. I purchased a 2005 Honda Accord LX Sedan on August 27th and managed to accidentally brush the rear door with a garage remote clip protruding from my pocket - just a few hours after driving the car off the dealer`s lot. I was in a state of panic and located an old container of Turtle Wax Polishing Compound and wasted no time in trying to rub the scratch off. The scratch eventually diminished, but the compound coupled with my heavy rubbing eventually marred the paint. I then stumbled across a few articles written by Jngrbrdman over at www.team-integra.net, which is a site I used to be a member of a few years back. I have exchanged a few e-mails with him and he quickly squared me away in the right direction. Small world. I noticed he`s also an active member of this forum.

Anyway, I`m pretty sure that my little mishap with the garage remote clip triggered a fascination with keeping my car clean. I have been religious as far as keeping my ride clean by using the following products every Friday or Saturday:

    - Meguiar`s Deep Crystal Car Wash
    - Meguiar`s Cleaner Wax
    - Eagle One All Wheel & Tire Cleaner
    - Meguiar`s High Gloss Hot Shine Tire Spray
    - Stoner Invisible Glass

I have twenty microfiber towels that I purchased from AutoZone. Nothing fancy as they are all just decent quality off-the-shelf towels, but I didn`t stumble across this forum until the other day. I also spray my car down with Meguiar`s Quik Detailer every day prior to leaving for work. Perhaps I`m a little bit obsessed as of this writing, but I have yet to set foot on the floor mats that were equipped with my vehicle. I acquired a roll of brown painter`s paper from Home Depot and have been using properly-sized sheets to cover my floors and replace the driver`s side paper mat every week. I guess I`m just not ready to step on my floors as of yet. :-p

Plans call for the following items to be purchased in early-November:

    - Porter Cable 7424
    - Pinnacle PolyClay Clay
    - Poorboy`s Light Abrasive Swirl Remover (SR1)
    - Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection
    - Poorboy`s Natty’s Paste Wax (Blue)
    - Poorboy`s Spray & Wipe Waterless Wash
    - 303 Aerospace Cleaner
    - 303 Aerospace Protectant

I`m pretty happy with the car wash liquid that I`m using, so I`ll stick to it for now. I don`t have fancy wheels so as long as the hub caps are clean and the tires have decent shine, I`m a happy camper. And the Stoner Invisible Glass is the best thing I have come across in a very long time. It definitely beats Windex and newspaper...that`s for sure.

Lookin` forward to learning more from this forum so that I might be able to contribute in some way in the future. My wife and I also have a 2005 BMW 530i that we purchased earlier this year, so I`m hoping that I`ll gain enough confidence to put some top-quality work into that vehicle as well. Cheers!

I was also looking into the lower-priced PC. I need to re-visit my local Lowes to see if they carry it. As far as SSR1 is concerned, I`m only planning to use it as a sort of paint cleaner. I don`t have any spiderwebs as of yet, but I`ll definitely order a container of SSR2 when the time comes.

Waffle weaves are definitely a must have. The Absorber that I`m using is rough on the paint. I always have to follow it up with some MF towels just to make sure no water spots are left behind. I`ve looked into the Cobra line of MF and they seem to be pretty good. Anyone have any opinions on the Cobra products?

    Thanks!
