Lot of people will use these. I have some and their handy
For that I would use something flat and thin similar to a credit card and wrap it with a Wet (use rinselss wash) Microfiber towel.

Paint brush with tire/wheel cleaner works on my cycles.

I dunno, if you plan on riding the bike again, I wouldn`t spend hours on that task.
After looking high and low, I think I`ve found the perfect thing to do the job.
I ordered three packs from Amazon, they are the perfect width of the fins and I think the bristles are stiff enough to be able to scrub away any dirt and grime.
I guess I`ll find out...
