Haven`t seen anything about this yet so I figured I would ask. Do you/ can you clay gel coat?

I thought the gel coat would be just polished/compounded if it had oxidation? Before polishing do you need to clay it???

claying is for removing surface contamination

that polishing would just grind down

Ok, so boats do need claying before correction work. For some reason I thought it was different for boats than cars.

    Thanks for the headsup!!

I wouldn`t waste your time claying a boat. Definitely clean it though (with chemicals) before polishing.

Yeah, i`m not sure that i`d clay a boat either. I`d just use a chemical cleaner and polish.

For example, my 2005 Sea-Hunt is due for it`s spring detail. I`m going to use Duragloss Marine Cleaner/Polish, then some #105 or 21 2.0. That is after I wash it full strength with a good APC.
