Don - we know you tried hard. We can still make this happen.

Prinz - I don`t believe there is any electricity at the waysides. If we held it here, it would be mostly just a day to get together with a bunch of other Autopians.

We could still do stuff with the cars as long as it didn`t require electricity. IMO, most (if not all) of the cars will be completely detailed before the meet anyway.

It`s really a prime location if the consensus is that we can do without electricity.

Come to think of it...if we wanted to run rotary and PC practice/intro, electricity is required, and that was one of the things that I`d like to see out of this meet.

That`s what we have to decide...is electricity essential for the meet? Will we be able to find a place to hold the meet that has electricity, and can park ~15 cars?

Carl you know you can always practice with my rotary on my dad`s van (he already gave me permission).

I know Blue-Sun had a place, only concern were for the guys that were coming from northern Wisconsin. Some of them were making a 3 to 4 hour drive when it was north of Milwaukee.

Paul, do you mind the drive? I don`t mind the drive and I can still get a ride from my Dad if things don`t work out...he can always find things to do in the Chicago area.

However, there is another place he told me about but I think that has to be paid for. That`s why I suggested PMing him.

I would be OK with driving to Chicago, but I would like it to be a little closer if possible. D*mn premium gas.

I wish I had my Protege, but it will still be a while.

Good news is...I made $130 today, and sold my wheels yesterday for $410 - shipping.

I`m about 1/6 of the way there. When I sell my car I`ll have enough for the rest of the amount to get a decent Protege.

My summer job starts on May 7th, and I have a few more details to do soon as well. With any luck, I`ll be celebrating my independence from accident damage on July 4th! :woot:

I`ve got a location that we can use, just not on the 9th.

I`m friends with the owners over at P & L motorsports (www.pandlmotorsports.com) in Frankling Park. It`s a fairly new shop in an industrial park. There`s a wash bay that we can use and if it`s a weekend, there will be plenty of places to park. There`s enough extension chords that we can either be inside or outside working.

If we go on a sunday, the shop is closed but will be open for us and we`ll be pretty much unbothered.

They said it would be like $5 -$10 a person, but that`s not that bad of a price for a detailing learning experience.

Let me know if you`re interested in having it there and when, and I`ll work out the rest of the details (no pun intended)

    David

ps- for some reason I cannot log onto the board while at work (but all other boards are OK and i do most of my posting there) but I`ll be looking at this thread when I get home. . .

Hi all. I`m new to this forum. I`ve been around at Meguiar`s Online, and looked for fellow Chicagoans to meet with. Someone over there pointed me over here, so here I am! I would be interested in attending a meet where I can learn how to use the PC to eliminate swirls. I don`t mind driving and paying a fee.

    Some info on myself:

I`m a college student from the northside of Chicago.

    I drive a Black (swirl heaven) 2003 4Runner.

I own a PC, but have been unsuccessful in using it.

I would love to attend a meet somewhere here in illinois or in wisconsin. Thanks!

Excellent, blue! Sounds super-cool. Perhaps get an email group list from OI812 (he was the one conducting the meet information before)...then you can email us all as a group.
