Re: Rasky's Auto Detailing - High-End Auto Detailing and Premier Coating Installer, Minnesota Metro Area

This new Hellcat was in for a multi-step paint correction to remove the factory dieback and light swirls in the paint. The car then had 3M Performance film applied to the whole front, doors, and rear bumper cover. Once it came back to me the whole car was topped off with Cquartz Finest coating.

    Process:

    Wash – ONR
Wheels – Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus & wash mitt.
Tires - Cleaned with Megs D143 and Tuf-Shine brush. Dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing 3:1
Paint Prep – Griot’s Fast Surface Prep Mitt and Glide as lube
Paint Correction – Megs M100 on the rotary with PFW pads followed by Optimum Hyper Polish on the G15 with yellow BOSS pads. Tight areas were done with the Rupes Nano.
Glass – Megs D120 and Griot’s PFM glass towels
Coating Prep – Optimum Paint Prep
Coating – 2 coats Cquartz Finest to all paint, wheels, and calipers.

    2015 Accord EX-L Coupe, multi-step paint correction
This one was in to fix the "lot rot" and dealer installed holograms. Client purchased this one new back in April, so it had been on the lot a while. He was okay with the general wash induced swirls but he had instructed the dealer NOT to do any detailing on it at all. Obviously they did not listen and as a result they got to pay for part of this detail. This vehicle also belongs to a close friend of another client of mine from Canada who’s Nissan Altima I did a few times in the past. It still blows me away that they would travel so far to have a car polished but I definitely appreciate the business and they are fun to talk with too.

    Process:

Wash – Meguiar’s Hyper Wash and natural lamb’s wool mitt
Wheels – Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus & various brushes.
Tires - Cleaned with Megs D143 and Tuf-Shine brush. Dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing 3:1
Paint Prep – Griot’s Fast Surface Prep Mitt and Glide as lube
Paint Correction - Griot`s Fast Correct Cream on the G15 with Griot`s MF BOSS pads followed by HD Polish on the G15 with yellow BOSS pads. Tight areas were done with the Rupes Nano.
Glass – Megs D120 and Griot’s PFM glass towels
    LSP – Blackfire Wet Diamond

    Pics

Lots of bugs from the drive down.

Tops has some sap/bird bomb etching that needed some sanding.

    LOL! Thanks!

It`s hard to find the time "and money" to get things finished up but I`m shooting to start working out of it the weekend of 9/11. Biggest hurdle right now is getting the driveway in. Insulation, drywall, and overhead lights should be easy and I can do those during the week nights. All the other electrical is in and we are just about done with the floor epoxy... just have to apply the urethane top coat tomorrow.

Looking great so far! I`m dreaming of having a setup like that in the (far) future. Now you`ll need to get a giant buffer to keep that floor glossy

    What is factory dieback?

It`s like normal dieback, but from the factory and not a repaint.

This is just my best guess at the issue all these Hellcats seem to have. If anyone else can explain why they look the way they do I`d be all ears but based on how it looks it appears to be dieback to me. If you look at the first picture you can see how the paint looks fuzzy/distorted in the light reflections. Moderate to aggressive polishing seem to take care of it so it`s a rather mild case of dieback as usually they need sanding. It has to do with the solvents and how the paint cures. This issues has been on every hellcat I`ve done and in talking to ohers they have said the same.

Newer Tesla Model S in for paint correction and CQuartz Finest coating

    Process:

Wash – Meguiar’s Hyper Wash and natural lambs wool mitt
Wheels – Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus & various brushes.
Tires - Cleaned with Megs D143 and Tuf-Shine brush. Dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing 3:1
Paint Prep – Griot’s Fast Surface Prep Mitt and Glide as lube
Paint Correction - Groit`s Correct Cream on the Rupes 21 with Griot`s MF BOSS pads followed by Essence on the G15 with yellow BOSS pads. Tight areas were done with the Rupes Nano.
Glass – Megs D120 and Griot’s PFM glass towels
Coating Prep – Optimum Paint Prep
Coating – 2 coats CQuartz Finest

Overall the car was in good shape, just some light scratches here and there as well as some faint holograms.

Rupes Nano is great for the narrow roof trim.

Backing out to inspect in the sun

    Wheels coated too

    Awesome work once again.

In your opinion and experience, what is/are your deciding factor(s) between doing a rinseless vs. "wet n wild" wash on the vehicles delivered to you? i noticed the hellcat was done with ONR and the Tesla with soap.
