Slow start, non variable speed trigger, and mostly the touchy trigger that has to be fully depressed at all times. If the throttle control of the Nano was like that of pneumatic tools, like the TA50, it would be perfect IMO.

Why do you think you`d be better off with the short version?

    Thanks for the reasoning.

I originally got the long neck for areas like the heat exchanger on the front of c7, because of the angle and proximity of the next fin.

Now on Z the air vents on rear quarter, the long neck will not work due to closeness of body/window.

    LOL! Long neck problems!

I guess I have found myself having to approach some areas a certain way because the end of the tool is hitting something. Based on pics the short version doesn`t seem "that" much shorter and I wonder if you`d still have issues. I think you will always find and instance where one is better than the other though.

    I love your car BTW!

    Thanks.

It really is funny. I bought the tool for one type of thing and created a different problem elsewhere. Gee, guess I`ll just have to use a section of the 15 and be careful........ (now there`s a unique thought)

    1986 Porsche 911 Cabriolet, 2-step paint correction.

I love working on older cars like this as they always take you back in time. This particular one reminds me of my childhood days of hanging out in the local mall and being in Spencer Gifts with my friends browsing through all the large wall posters. Although the poster I bought that day was actually of a red Porsche 911 turbo slant nose, I can’t help but think of those days staring at the poster on my wall and admiring the beautiful work of art it is. Of course the Kelly Lebrock poster next to it wasn’t bad either.

This vehicle was no garage queen and it was driven and enjoyed as all cars should be. With that it did have a few bruises here and there but overall it was a very nice car and appeared to be mostly original with moderate oxidation and heavy washed induced marring. The trim had faded down a little too and needed to be addressed.

    Process:

Wash – Meguiar’s Hyper Wash and natural lambs wool mitt
Wheels – P21S Wheel Cleaner Plus & various brushes.
Tires - Cleaned with Megs D143 and Tuf-Shine brush. Dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing 3:1
Convertible top cleaned with RaggTop cleaner and a brush
Paint Prep – Griot’s Fast Surface Prep Mitt and Glide as lube
Paint Correction - Groit`s Fast Correct Cream on the G15 with Griot`s MF BOSS pads followed by Optimum Hyper Polish on the G15 with yellow BOSS pads. Griot’s BOSS Innerflex pad was also installed during polishing on the fenders and quarter panels. Tight areas were done with Megs G110v2 and the Rupes Nano.
    Trim – Solution Finish
Glass – Megs D120 and Griot’s PFM glass towels
LSP – Griot’s Best Of Show Paste Wax

    Before pics

Engine vent was really faded and grey looking

The oil cooler had to be dropped in order to get access to the bolts holding the vent piece in.

The Carrera badge was removed for polishing and reinstalled after correction. You can see how faded and dirty it is between and around the letters.

    Test spot of Solution Finish

    50/50 shots

All I was seeing this day was red, lots of red! 
Trying out the new CarPro MF pads too, only had one though.

The car had a few burned edges from previous detailers so they were taped off during correction.

Door cups were bad, sorry, forgot to get an after pic of these.

Rupes Nano got LOTS of use on this car!

    This part was not fun

    After pics!

    Thanks for looking,
    Rasky

I can see why these 1980-90`s Porsches are skyrocketing in price. Such neat cars. Very nice work on this Porsche. That Carrera emblem looked like a lot of fun

    Edit:
Referring to the Carrera, but the Mican looks nice too.

    RaskyR1:
Just a question on using Griot`s "Best of Show" Paste Wax on the Red Porsche 911 single-stage paint (I assume it`s single-stage as judging from the red residue on the buffing/polishing pads). Why did you choose to use this particular wax?? I assume you have other waxes that could have worked well with the single stage paint. Judging from the photos, it turned out stunningly head-turning brilliant.

I have a "collection" of framed 911 pictures, including a 20 x 16 of a 911 red slant nose, I bought from a person at a rummage sale. There are 5 smaller ( 8 x 5) framed prints of various models from the `80 and early 90`s. I think I paid maybe $20.00 for the framed prints long ago. Yup, just checked: they are still sittin` in the garage collecting dust, not even hanging up.

No real reason, Lonnie. I simply live very close to Jeff brown (Griot`s Garage) and after doing all the BOSS line testing with him I`ve just become impressed with a lot of their products lately. I was at his place a while back and he had me try a spot on his truck with the BOS paste wax and it was very easy to use, which is NOTHING like the experience I had with the old version of the liquid BOS wax. I knew I wanted to use a carnauba on this car so I added it to my cart when I was placing my last order. The owner currently uses a few Griot`s products now so I gave the wax to him when I was done.
Thanks Lonnie thanked for this post
